Nah, that website is hideous retro. Part of the business is designing/making Klein bottles to sell for a profit If he makes enough money to cover the entirety of his living expenses, he can probably charge a little extra to contract a web designer to revamp the appearance of the sales website every 4(?) years.

He's essentially trying to sell mathematical glass sculpture. You don't get the *wow* experience showcasing art in a shitty 2D photograph in a basement workshop.

Agreed on Strange New Worlds. It's a breath of fresh air for Nu-Trek.

I tried real hard with Discovery. Made it through the first two (?) seasons and just couldn't bring myself to care enough to continue to trudge through the sophomoric writing and characters (or character, since it should be called "The MIchael Burman Show").

Have to disagree with Picard though. The last season was 100% rooted in nostalgia and member-berries. And sure, it was fun to see the old cast and ship... as long as your brain has an off-switch. The story and plot, if you take half a second to think about it, was one giant non-sequitur and nonsensical to the point of insulting. It also completely discarded everything that happened in Picard season 1 and 2 which, even if you didn't completely love those seasons (I didn't) there was still important story elements and character development that was treated as if it never happened. Again, this is insulting to the audience and screams "I have a giant ego" by the producer.

preempting state data protection laws

Ah, there, that's the real thing. The open secret is that the NSA has largely outsourced mass surveillance. There's no need for the government to spy on everyone if private industry already does, just make sure private industry pumps all that data to the NSA. Overriding potentially stronger state laws is the real goal here.

The other thing a "privacy law" would likely be used for is to attack foreign apps, like TikTok, in an attempt to ensure that the US continues having access to the data they gather. Or "protect the data of American citizens from foreigners" as they'll surely claim.

The one thing we can be certain of any "bipartisan law" is that the people being screwed are the American people.

Itâ(TM)s not the Americans being the polluting people, itâ(TM)s the Chinese. The point is that America (and the rest of the west) canâ(TM)t directly affect emissions because itâ(TM)s china thatâ(TM)s making them. That means the only levers we have are taxing imports from China. Taxing everything based on how much CO2 was emitted making it makes a huge amount of sense, especially if those revenues are then channeled into green manufacturing, which would then be price competitive with the cheep Chinese imports. This would then boost US manufacturing, and power industries, acting as a huge economic boost.

The fact that it used to take 15,000 years, but now takes only a human lifespan is precisely the problem. These changes *are* coming fast, because theyâ(TM)re no longer part of the natural cycle. This is precisely the point of the hockey stick curve. Itâ(TM)s not the climate change that is the problem, itâ(TM)s the speed of climate change.

Two years ago, with the skyrocketing inflation, the Fed felt the only way to properly address the economic situation was by jacking up interest rates. We were in an era of "free money", where cash was easily available for new tech like IPOs, SPACs, M&As, bitcoin, woke Marvel Phase IV movies, and stoopid level, streaming company content production, . Its an end of an era; no more free money available to throw at sketchy gambles. So yeah, I can't believe there are still investors with money to piss away.
