The left lane is NOT a speeding lane. It is not you personal driving lane. It is not their responsibility that you can't drive legally.

Suck it up and stop causing accident, you jerk.

Righteous indignation is stronger that the fucking "slower traffic keep right" signs and laws, I guess. BTW, the posted speed limits are always 5-10 MPH LESS than the speed that is considered safe for any road. The "cheat" is built into the system. Anyone who insists on staying under the posted limit and feels it their duty to slow down traffic behind them should seriously consider changing their meds.

Burning Man stands for absolutely nothing other than privileged, usually white people who want to go waste a lot of time while being very conscious of the fact that this supposedly makes them cool.

Ah, that must be it, based on what, a few photos that you've seen on the web and your own insecurities about anyone different?

The Burning Man people that I know are generally hippie types who go to oggle naked people, run around naked, and do lots of hallucinogens. I've never seen anything about privilege, only general weirdness.

The real issue is why does it matter so much? Do we really have to get an exact 50/50 gender split in every discipline before people will stop banging on about it? We should strive to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity regardless of gender (or race, or whatever else) but that is as far as our collective responsibility needs to go. After that you leave it to the individuals, and if fewer women show an interest in a particular area, so be it. Study that, if you find it interesting, but don't assume something must be amiss (or amister).

The problem is that rarely is there equal treatment, equal incentive, and equal opportunities in ANY profession for any number of reasons, be it gender, race, or other. This is a discussion of what might be at issue in this case. To stick your head in the sand and go "la la la" shows pig headed ignorance. Let me guess, white middle class male, right?

fair enough. I can't argue with that; although, there have been a number of analysis done which showed that without the support of people who happened to be living in the San Francisco bay area, and the liberal support of the University of California system, Silicon Valley could not have happened. Attempts to replicate it have failed due to a lack of the right people or lack of economic support.

It's a mostly forgotten fact that the Sun in Sun Microsystems was from Stanford University Network.

Its amazing that people still talk about Microsoft being a monopoly. The boogeyman of the late 90's and early 2000's is long gone.

Markets Microsoft currently controls:

  • Desktop Operating Systems
  • Office Suites

The monopoly just doesn't exist anymore.

You just pointed out that the monopoly DOES still exist. The fact that Microsoft has not been able to abuse that power like they did under Gates is an indication not of them losing power, but Ballmer not understanding how to use it. Gates is absolutely vicious. He'll rip the throat out of a company while shaking hands at the same time. Ballmer is just a big doofus bully who's threats mean nothing. Under someone as power/money obsessed as Gates, Microsoft could very well go back to its old ways. They still have the desktop and office suites, as you pointed out, which means that they still control business.
