Not interested in changing the battery? Or not able to?

Asking because I'm thinking of making my next machine a MBP. Have used (DOS then) Windows almost exclusively my entire life, but not a fan of how Windows is evolving.

Author's life + sounds fair.
But I have no respect for those who so aviriciously guard their copyrighted works ... based entirely on stories written by other authors a few centuries (or millenia) earlier.

Wasn't the original purpose of copyright to send a message that 'after n years these works are a free-for-all' ?
That the focus was on the freeing of the works, not on the protection of the works. On the understanding that releasing stuff after a period of time benefits all of humanity.

I'm very disappointed in the evolution of ThinkPad's over the past 10 years, though I must say I'm a big fan of the, err, pointing stick.

I have used it on other brands (e.g. HP) but it doesn't seem very widespread outside of ThinkPad's.

Had to check to make sure: apparently it's been off-patent since 2017

You're small company is nothing like Amazon, and it exploits not the loopholes exploited by Amazon and their ilk.

In Australia, using a tax haven FOR THE PURPOSE OF MINIMISING TAX is a criminal offence. However using it "legitimately" is A-OK.
I have researched this, and my own accountant gave me the same advice:

"Offshore tax evasion is a crime where a person deliberately evades paying tax by holding money and assets offshore. Our role at the ATO is to identify and catch these individuals."

Large companies can easily open an actual office (not a fake office) in a tax haven to assert legitimacy.
But you & I would struggle to convince a judge that our company head office in Bermuda is legit.
That's why you & I would burn, while Amazon and others save hundreds of billions.

I'd like to see many, many more sting operations by police, across all different types of crimes. Just to spread fear amongst the bad elements of society.
Sadly, my police here in NSW, Australia are probably as under-resourced as those in most other jurisdictions.

I want my PHONE to have 2FA. I want it to use a biometric factor (FaceID/fingerprint depending on my device; eg, what I am) AND a code (what I know). The account change here is less consequential as already have other 2FA implemented on that.

Yes ! That's crossed my mind in the past, and I'd also use the sample combinations you mentioned: Face Id (or fingerprint) + short code (3 or 4 numerals).
Doubt we'll get it with the current 2 mobile OS leaders.
