Journal Journal: Good series! 2

Now after some medicority and loses, there's a neat series.

One pure +5 Insightful. Pretty, but no big deal.
One pure +5 Interesting which caused real avalanche of answers (27), some of them modded +4, +5.
And finally, one that doesn't look impressive. +2 Interesting, standard karmawhore +2 level. But it was -1 at one time, and I can't even see the +1 underrated in the score summary that changed its fate. I'm waiting for "comment moderation" message to see what kind of battle was fought over that one.

Journal Journal: What a jerk... 1

That loser modded me down as "offtopic" and posted that he adds me to his foes because I'm not mature enough to stay on topic. The comment was perfectly on topic (OCCC link from thread about a VERY obfuscated hack) so I got upset for a while. I looked at the guy's profile though and saw an entry saying "I've decided to make as many enemies as possible. Don't take it personally." in his journal.
I've also looked at his posts... With attitude like that, he dares to post things like this??? This one has been modded down as troll absolutely fair. It's the people who create this place. People with attitude like his are what pulls this place towards what he wrote about in that post.

He landed on my "friend" list. I'm just full of compassion. He just doesn't get that complaining about things in this world won't get you far if you don't fix them yourself, and fixing the world should be started from fixing yourself.
And no, I'm not a christian.

Journal Journal: generic 5

Yow! Got a post rated 5 as 1 of 2 in article.

Shopping: Suspended.
Plans: Writing that goddamn shitty program and getting to hate it more and more.
The code is icky. I need to handle quite big data structures and copy, swap, modify them as often as if they were bits. A single gene of the structure is a damned matrix of about 5x200 of int. The rest is on hold.

Anything interesting? Nope. Uncle visited and we had some arguments. Annoying. Bought a pump for water cooling. I wonder if it will be efficient enough.
One thing in plus is that I finally found the lost URL of Equine Archive, the best horsey pr0n site on the net. I wonder if I should put my zoo stories URL in my signature :) Would make some fuss I think :)

Journal Journal: Generic 4?

Shit, I looked at the list and I see I'm doing all the stuff in order: least important first.

Ok. Status update:

1) Report RMB bugfix results to Jens. - Underway. (he found something that might work but requires Firebird, downloading now...)
2) Elections... - Appeared to be "for free" :P No money.
3) Get remaining money for my mother. - RESOLVED FIXED.
4) first herb harvest. - Underway. Basil and /Czomber/ supply ready.
5) "Codename: Equus Sapiens". Renamed to Project E.S. and completed, waiting for debug from LV :)
1) Write the other program - Changing priority to P1
2) Optimoz webpage - didn't touch.
3) Horse names webpage - didn't touch. May abandon.
4) Arab horse list webpage - Prepared "advanced search" template, heavily abusing style sheets.
5) Learn how to make a "natural halter" - RESOLVED FIXED.
6) Read the pending PNH pages - -> future, P6
7) Learn to the exams. - Reviev? (done but no results yet. Plus English Oral yet)
8) Visit the PNH show - Been there, done that ;)
9) Arrange the practices. - Superreviev? (need my papers signed by authorities yet)

Shopping:
1) Hard drive - pending.
2) Cell charger plus accumulators. Charger bought. Accumulators ->future.
3) RAM 256M DIMM - Not Anytime Soon. (adding to top of the list "If I Have Anything Left After The Vacations")
4) the riding helmet. - First I'll see if there's need and sense.

5)Bought a nice tourist backpack. Need a tent.
6)CPU water cooling system. (copper pipe, PV pipes, water pump, radiator, Calgon. Need to think of a reasonable power supply system. (will the additional AT power supply suffice?)

Been playing with satellite TV - replaced the small dish with our old, big one, changing converters - now the signal is very good. I wonder what I can do with the old tuner and the small dish - if I can get some sat TV programs in my room :)

Sleeepy. gonna go2sleep.

A few less important things vanished from the list. Some more appeared. Like:
1) Report RMB bugfix results to Jens.
2) Elections... (tomorrow?!)
3) Get remaining money for my mother.
4) first herb harvest. No, not that kind of herb. didn't plant it this year. Just various spice plants.
5) Write the story I have idea for. "Codename: Equus Sapiens". Real mess of a plot, but I'm lacking details. Small bits of the best of Matrix (not special effects ;)

I made a shopping list for nearest time too...
1) Hard drive. 400zl
2) Cell charger plus accumulators. 120zl
3) RAM 256M DIMM to upgrade Yiff to 512M. 120zl
4) the riding helmet. 160zl.

All the money from BiP will be used up and nothing for riding lessons will be left. I will try instead:
1) To urge the guy to get me that stolen harddrive for 200zl.
2) Try to arrange riding-for-work in the stable
3) Buy the charger from cash after the elections. Accumulators will wait.
4) Buy the helmet when my financial status is clear.

I've been to the PNH show. It was nice. When I read other people's relations, I'm full of envy for myself: I can turn the simplest thing into adventure.
Arrival: improvisation, hurry and trouble.
Show: Being the most active of the spectators.
Opt-in elements: 100% participated.
Then joined in to the "elite only" group and participated in their meeting. Learned several interesting and important things (like whom to blame for ridiculously high PNH courses prices: Linda Parelli) and at the end participated in Great Improvisation of Return.

I could accompany people in their travels, advertising "Want adventures? Travel with me". I'm just the "asking for trouble" type with very little of responsibility and a lot of luck...

*grins, eating crackers and drinking beer*, some people wanted to buy my first program. I wish the school wanted to buy my other program too... Of course as always, the software is paid in beer. Shit, I'm getting really drunk. At least I get good notes.

Does anyone read this thing?

Journal Journal: Moving forward...

Hell, a friend came, I plugged his box into my LAN and finally one of the programs is completed - he had just the same bug I had (hell, a wannabe engineer should remember the definition of a derivative!) and since his program was simpler, the bug was easier for me to locate. Now he's still fighting with his code...

But the work is still far from the end.

ToDo list:
1) Write the other program
2) Optimoz webpage
3) Horse names webpage
4) Arab horse list webpage
5) Learn how to make a "natural halter"
6) Read the pending PNH pages
7) Learn to the exams.
8) Visit the PNH show (2 days!)
9) Arrange the practices.
10) Do several other more or less wise things I don't remember now.

The old method of writing programs that solve expected exam tasks on my calculator before the tests appeared to work okay - I expect to have pretty high score from both tests I had yesterday and today. I don't expect 100%, but surely no less than 80%.

I've been to the new Matrix. I'm a bit disappointed. Could've had better plot.

Now hunting Karma on SCO thread..."Just for publicity... (Score:5, Interesting)" Not bad.
The recipe is simple: Look at the problem from quite a different point. Try to think of hidden motives, catastrophic results, things moving in a very odd direction, the famous hacker ha ha only serious thing... It's easy.
I treat Karma hunting like a game. I want to get the +1 modifier so I get noticed when I have important things to say. And to feel that I can get it...
The network is really full of Real Life MUDs. Hunt The Bug (bugzilla), Crack the Serven (ngsec), Gain the Modifier (/.), Become Moderator (forums)...

Yeah. I'm tired. Again without reason I'm sad, even though I shouldn't be.

Journal Journal: Wasting Time.

Today I changed my sig on /. to "Karma whore and proud of it". Got another post moderated to 5 (and this was one of 2 at 5 in that thread, the other was one of the replies.) It scares me how easily I seem to get such a high score. Either I'm really so good (I doubt) or /. has really few people better than me ,what worries me - hell, I didn't come here to be famous, loved and popular (as every karma whore does) but to get better info, gain insight from others' posts. I hope this sig will keep people's notes down and make me lower my self-esteem a bit :)
Okay. Today's summary: Projects STILL pending (aaargh), but I touched the mozgest webpage - "Oh my God, it's full of DIVs!" hell, creating gradient backgrounds using div style="position: absolute; -moz-opacity: 0.1;" is like... (insert the right word here, I have no idea what is it like.). I did several things that don't move me a step forward or a bit wiser, wasted two beers without even getting properly drunk, and did several other useless things (like a that keychain UV lamp). And now instead of going to sleep I type this.
Yes, screw this entry, gotta run to sleep. (sad and angry completely without a reason... "Karma: Good" must be a mistake.)

Yet another sunday passed uselessly. Again reloading forums ten times, programs still pending even though I get less and less time... I should get a life. But instead I still keep dreaming about horses and wasting time.

Oh well, today wasn't completely wasted. I emailed Jens about a bug in the nightlies of Mozgest (Optimoz) and we got on irc together. He taught me how to use DOM inspector and LXR to find function names so I could hook them up to gestures, I even created myself a new gesture to toggle javascript on and off. Useful on popup-ridden PR0N pages.;)

We discussed some new ideas about mozgest. Some of them were accepted, some rejected. Biggest win: after proper packaging scripts are developed, separate packages for root install or user profile install are accepted. Biggest loss: No "disable (without removing) custom gestures". I should design a more visitor-friendly webpage for Optimoz too. Jens thought my comparison of the current webpage to a big, noisy workshop where customers feel quite unsafe, was quite right. We also thought of a good way to force all idiots who don't know there is such a thing as preferences into learning that they are there and mozgest is strongly customisable. Forcing a webpage during first launch after install was discarded as a bad idea. Popping up preferences dialog open on mozgest page seemed much better - after all most people right after installing new stuff would like to tweak it up and see what can they do with it. Oh well, maybe not, maybe it's just my twisted hacker sense that they should.

I think I'll be naaasty while creating the optimoz webpage (WHEN?!) - I'll make it all using a LOT of mozilla-specific tags. (not that Mozilla has any proprietary tags. It just supports much more standards from w3.org than other browsers do :) so it looks SUPERB in Mozilla and LAME in MSIE and I'll leave an item in FAQ:
Q:"Why is this page so ugly?"
A: You're using MSIE or some such crap, don't you? Check Mozilla screenshots

I just curse I picked such a daaamn hard project. Create a school schedule using genetic algorithms. How would a data structure for a single gene of that thing look like?!?

Jens complained that there's not enough feedback ("wishlist") from users. I wonder how seriously he will treat my ideas of adding buttons "Make a wish" and "Submit a bug" to prefs panel. :)

Daaamn me, I feel lazy. I wonder if anyone will ever read it. Still waiting for portal.horsesports.pl to activate my www account and pondering urging them... Hitting "reload" over the forum 1000'th time, arguing with people (err, people? One of them is a britney fan, that's hardly a "person"), cursing Mozilla 1.4a bug about reloading "select" html tags... *sigh* I should do something about my life. Maybe write the pending programs... Noooooo. I just can't force myself.
