Comment Re:This is crazy (Score 1) 875

Some folks believe that the Federal government is incapable of properly "reforming" health care / health insurance in this country. I would much prefer that each state attempt to tackle reform on their own, much like Massachusetts has done. That allows people to vote with their feet should they not agree with policy they firmly disagree with.

Personally, I think a lot of good would come from simply allowing insurance companies to sell policies across state lines and from common sense tort reform.

NIH Spends $400K To Figure Out Why Men Don't Like Condoms 844

The National Institutes of Health has given $423,500 to researchers at Indiana University's Kinsey Institute to figure out why men don't like to wear condoms. The institute will also study why men have trouble using condoms and investigate "penile erection and sensitivity during condom application." "The project aims to understand the relationship between condom application and loss of erections and decreased sensation, including the role of condom skills and performance anxiety, and to find new ways to improve condom use among those who experience such problems," reads the abstract from Drs. Erick Janssen and Stephanie Sanders, both of the Kinsey Institute.

An anonymous reader writes "NY is considering taxing 'video and music' downloads to offset a burgeoning budget deficit." How long before we all have meters on our routers? This version is just a 4% tax on movies and songs downloaded from services like iTunes, but I'm sure if they could figure out a bit tax, they would.

Nuclear Subs 'Collide In Ocean' 622

Jantastic noted a BBC report saying "A Royal Navy nuclear submarine was involved in a collision with a French nuclear sub in the middle of the Atlantic. It is understood HMS Vanguard and Le Triomphant were badly damaged in the crash earlier this month. Despite being equipped with sonar, it seems neither vessel spotted the other, the BBC's Caroline Wyatt said."
