Submission + - Big Buck Bunny Movie Now Downloadable

paroneayea writes: "Big Buck Bunny (previously known as Project Peach), the world's second fully open source movie, is now available for download!

Like its predecessor Elephants Dream, Big Buck Bunny is made in Blender, the free software 3d modeling and animation tool, as well as other free software applications such as The GIMP and Inkscape. The end product, as well as all of the source files used to create the movie, are released under a Creative Commons license. Unlike its predecessor, which was both loved and hated for its very experimental style, Big Buck Bunny is a bit more accessible and closer to the furry, anthropomorphic cartoonish 3d movies that the public tends to be more used to.

Though short, the movie is extremely well polished and is definitely worth the download. But aside from being a treat for the eyes, the direct collaboration between the artists and the developers means a whole lot more features for the next Blender release. Plus, the sales of the DVDs help fund the Blender Foundation as well as the next Blender movie (and the currently work-in-progress game, Project Apricot). So if you enjoy the movie, consider buying a DVD!"
