Journal Journal: Slow computers

So my nice P3 866 got replaced at school today with a crappy PPro 233 or something. Boy does it suck balls. I installed Macromedia Studio MX last period cuz I need it to do my work, and it took the entire period to install (90 minutes). It then takes about 3 minutes for it to load.

I should be getting my old computer back sometime, but I don't know when :(.

Journal Journal: Reading

Man, I have 3 books right now for my Honors English class. We're reading Middlemarch, The King Must Die, and Mythology. We're finishing up Mythology this week, but then we're gonna be reading something else.

Sucks to be me...

Journal Journal: New Dells

So I did install the new XP build on one of the new Dells today. I got to go all the way up to the 3rd floor maintenance room, which is huge, and get a Dell. I've never been in the maintenance room, and it is really big. Their generator is up there I think.

Well I unpacked the Dell, sniffed it (mmm), then set it up. I made some changes in the BIOS so I could boot to the LAN and install the XP build through the LAN.

We're gonna be moving the new Dells out into the main library once we figure out where they're actually gonna go :).

Journal Journal: No new Dells

So I didn't get to install new Dells today at my internship. Instead, I actually did something different this time and replaced one of their old computers that gets hauled around on a cart with a semi-newer computer with a PII. A pretty big upgrade considering that the old computer was a P133. I took the cart upstairs, and then I got to replace a power supply that went bad.

My internship ends at 2:30, and I have to work at 6:00 this evening, so I decided just to stay at the library until 6 and do some homework. I probably won't actually end up doing it, but at least it sounds like I'm doing it :).

Journal Journal: More Dell Fun Today

So, this is my first journal entry :). I am 17 years old and a senior at Bloomington High School North in Bloomington, Indiana.

Every day, 4th period, I have a Senior Internship. For my internship, I am going to the public library, and work with the technology geeks there. I chose the library because I already work there as a circulation page, and I'm really familiar with the building and a lot of the people.

Well, the quality of the computers at the library really vary, but they are usually down in the shitty to actually decent range. The best ones they have (prior to the new Dells) were some older P4 1.7 GHz Dells that they got in about 6 months ago.

Well they just ordered some new Dells about 3 weeks ago, and they just arrived in the past few days. These are equipped with P4 2.25 GHz chips, and 15" LCDs. (The older Dells had 17 or 18" LCDs which were much nicer :)). The 15" LCD, even tho it is smaller, just doesn't stand up to the bigger LCDs they have. The text is a lot fuzzier, and turning on ClearType just makes it worse.

I have only seen one of the new Dells, but I am told that they are all in, so today I'm probably going to be setting some up. The techies at the library are kind of Windows freaks (not to say that I'm not), and they have been installing new XP builds via the remote installation feature. Unfortunately, I think this required a service pack for their server (hehe).

In other news, I am the webmaster for the North web site. I didn't actually create the design, but I maintain the site and do busy work for them. I have an Independent Study class that I do all my work in (that's where I am now).

So, enough ranting, I think I'm done :).
