to me non-blue bubbles mean "ok, they may or may not get the message based on my signal, their signal, etc". and "don't send pictures w/o resizing somehow first"

Of course, I'm rural and will float between SOS only levels of signal and one little tiny bar if I'm not on my wireless. Things get better mostly about a mile or so from the house in any direction.... if I changed providers that could change (there is a Verizon tower near by, a coworker that lives 2 miles away uses it for his home internet, and the tower is between our houses), etc. but that hassle isn't worth it to me

Given that Gnome is brought systemd down upon us all and the general hate for that here, I can understand why the GNOME devs wouldn't be so public about their involvement....

All of which is usually bundled into the rent (mortgage, taxes, insurance(s), HOA fees, etc). If it isn't, then the landlord (little old lady or corporate behemoth, doesn't matter) isn't even breaking even... or won't be as soon as something breaks. Figure $2-4k per year for "future big things" that are cyclic, like a roof every 20 years or so or a new AC unit every 10-15 years as well as wear-n-tear things like carpeting and repainting, etc between renters (unless you end up with a long term renter in which case it may not matter as much) and just normal annual or even monthly maintenance (changing AC filters, mowing lawn, etc - stuff I did as a renter but have seen included in some people's leases as a owner-responsibility)

And where I am the big risk from leaving the garage door open for a few hours, or even over night or for a 2 or 3 day stretch is wrens setting up nests in there, or wandering animals getting in (have removed armadillos, possums, cats, several species of snakes and I'm sure ignored or never saw various birds, bats, bees, etc and so on)
