You obviously don't know what twitter is, or how it works.

People make general comments certainly but if you follow /actual friends/ or people who have an interest in your opinion or are receptive to at least hearing it. You can engage in many conversations through twitter and include images, attach your location and so on. You can also easily "cc" friends - and friends who are following can observe and join in as well.

Glorious stuff. Also, Sony has made many many dumb mistakes but they do produce some good stuff. Considering their financials, this is just a positive for them really.
Any company which introduces a region free game console is fine by me, it's prompted me to feel comfortable purchasing many many games more than I normally would, due to the ability to get much more reasonable prices.

As an Australian, that is madness just MADNESS plus you guys get 2 weeks instead of 4 a year right?!

I would absoloutely work while sick in that case, no question of it.
We are legally entitled to 5 sick days with doctors certificate and 20 vacation days per year here. I'm allowed to talk my vacation time at half pay and I don't need the money so I basically get 40 days off a year.

You poor bastards.

Sure the mail is relatively reliable the the control tools fairly simple to use. A lot of hassles are taken out of my hands definitely.

However when there is an actual genuine issue, getting them to look at it, it's not a quick fix. It took a 50-> 100 reply thread, nearly a year before they finally fixed up the 'last logged in' display time in the console so you could actually identify when users were using the system or not. It was set to a US based time if I recall, despite Googles other services supporting international time zones relatively fine.

A lot of whining was needed to finally get a response. I dread to think how long it would take a very nasty issue to be ironed out? Perhaps only a 500 reply thread and 12 weeks?
Also, the latency from Google to Australia for hosted mail? Yeah, not really making for responsive mailboxes. Admitedly not their fault directly, I made the choice to use it.

What would happen if you wash your car on a Sunday in a bible belt area? Nasty looks? Egged car? Is the expectation you should be at church?

I do admit, I found it fascinating some stores in the US won't sell liquor on Sundays or Saturdays or after 9:00pm or some such due to church run states, what a disgusting joke.

Microsoft don't see the sales / activation figures and think "Gee so many users using Win8 but dropping the UI to Win7 / classic mode?! sheesh" they simply see a sale and assume they are doing the right thing.

Don't support this idiot behaviour in the first place. The desktop is a desktop is a desktop for a reason, sure it could be improved but hamfisting a phone UI on top of it isn't goign to help anyone.

If you're serious about shredding, get something with carbide cutting heads and at least a .5HP motor. I have a Rawlings-Chamberlain MK220 AKA "The Silver Knight" .
It comes fully loaded with a dual rubber roller feeder and 6 layer hopper to separate different kinds of paper, wood, metal, etc.. I can shred a New York telephone book in under 15 seconds.
The built in milling computer lets me customize the shred pattern to meet any security needs. I prefer a 3mm parallelogram with bilateral fiber separation. You can't even make out individual characters on those things.

Send me an IM if you're serious about this. Welcome to the world of paper shredding. You're in for a hell of a ride.

No back off, we get more PERCEIVED sunlight in summer.

It's a good thing a very good thing - as someone who suffers with SAD (oh boy) the "extra" sunlight is just fantastic. Summer is a warm, happy time - with lots of light, time to get home from work and still DO THINGS.

It blows my mind people swear black and blue about DST, it's mind boggingly backwards. It's certainly a quirky fix but you're not going to see us changing peoples lives to be 'work at 7, finish at 3' are you? It's never going to happen.
Winter is depressing and awful, to be honest - I'd prefer 2 hours of DST all year round. Yes, all year round. I realise it's stupid and we should just do things earlier but we won't do things earlier - it's not going to happen. DST 2 hours earlier - while also extremely unlikely is at least a pipe dream I can wish for.

Winter, leave just before sun up, leave work just after sun down. I'd much rather leave for work well well before sun up, leave work while sun remains up.
I spent a couple of days in Paris in their summer 2010 and it was glorious. The sun was still out at if I recall, 9:30pm - it was amazing and brilliant.

If anything, summer we need the 'extra hour' less than we actually need it in winter -we should be 2 hours forward in winter and only 1 hour forward in summer - it's backwards as it currently is.

I drank it for about 2 years, loved my iphone so much. My first smartphone - I was completely blown away by the thing.
Infact, I became so addicted to their products and so eager for new shit, I actually ruined a part of a nice long holiday in London in 2010 because I was so busy reading iphone 4 news, hoping for it's release while I was away, ordering the phone in the store over there - the whole lot. I was so desperate for the next 'iproduct' that I wasn't spending time enjoying myself on my holiday. Totally my own fault of course but part of dumb consumerism, brand loyalty, good marketing.
(Yes, I did end up buying it outright in the UK)

Over time though, I got sick of so many things I couldn't do. I hated that I needed to jailbreak just for SBSettings, which is frankly - fucking priceless (or was 18 months ago when I last used it) that one thing alone and the fact Apple hadn't copied SBSettings had me concerned. How can they NOT impliment this logical, awesome stuff?
They are devestatingly stubborn.

Someone showed me, I think a 2.2 build of Android and the pull down menu and the power bar widget. I was blown away. He was an Android nerd and lent me an Android phone for a few weeks. Almost all the shit which was pissing me off with an iphone was solved. I think I'd owned my iphone 4 for about 4 months at this point and then it went in a drawer for 7 months before I sold it - my journey had begun.
Would never EVER switch back now - just couldn't consider it

Won't deny one thing though - the hardware support from Apple, no one else comes close, not even remotely - which is sad. That whole "oh golly sir, it has a scratch and re-booted once on you?! Here have a new phone!" - that's good. That bought my loyalty for quite a while, won't deny that.
I hear Samsung and Asus are really bad to return things to - and I've personally
returned to Nokia (or tried to) I'll never purchase a Nokia product again.

Long story short though, this stubborn shit from Apple? surprising? Not at all, not even slightly.
