Why would the workstation tech be managing large user groups when it should be done at a higher level?

Being a gamer and growing up with a Commodore 128 and moving to PC, there are a few things that really wowed me:

1. Amiga graphics

2. Macintosh resolution (although just black and white)

3. Doom shareware - and creating a multiplayer LAN

4. Star Control 2 music (mod files)

5. GLQuake with a 3dfx Voodoo card

6. Maybe SGI computers. Maybe ATI and nVidia graphic demos. I can't say anything else has really made my jaw dropped. I loved changing technology and couldn't wait to see what came next, but these day everything is just blah, but maybe that's just me getting older.

Well I've always been a Firefox user and felt it was getting slow and bloated, but I am loving this update. I did a speed test this morning from www.speed-battle.com and peacekeeper.futuremark.com and Firefox 57 beat out Chrome 62 by quite a margin in most tests. Now, if Slashdot would change its favicon to use transparent corners instead of white corners, that one tab of mine wont look so funny.

True, but this will save you very little. Think of all possible 12 character passwords as a 13 character password with a null character for the last character. If you have a character set of 80 characters, this will only save you 1/80th of the total possible password combinations.

This is a bad thing. Yes, there are a few bad cops who get put on Youtube and become many people's understanding of what a cop is.

These are just people trying to do their job. How would you like to have people filming you work, ready to scrutinize your actions with millions of internet viewers?

Tablets came out. Many basic users who used to buy a computer figured a tablet was good enough for them now. PC sales rapidly declined and the death of the PC was declared. I'm sure Windows 8 had a part in that too. Now as the tablet market has stabilized, sales numbers should as well.

Look at the pre-market line. The 3% was for Wednesday. Down around 9% now.

Most gaming services don't show other users your IP address as things like a DoS could happen. Unless they are the admins of the game or you are using a third party service that they have access to such as a Teamspeak/Ventrillo server, guild/forum web server, etc. Be careful of what you visit. Also, even the best router is not going to stop your internet pipe from getting flooded with incoming packets.

So if a person is about to step out from behind a parked car and the driver is actually paying attention to the road, send him an alert to the dashboard which makes him briefly take his eyes off the road to read a message? Seriously?

What is this poll asking? If internet access is "required", then less than 1Mbit satisfies most web/email. Streaming video requires more. Faster speeds just make downloads quicker. If asking what we prefer, then greater than 100MB would be the answer. It seems like most people are answering with what they have.

The network monitor looks nice for troubleshooting. I'll be using that in the future. It also has a 3D button which is pretty cool, good for showing the different elements of a web page. I don't care for the sharing feature. I guess the icon only shows up if you login to Facebook, so I'll never see it.
