Comment what do you do if the code does not work? (Score 5, Interesting) 165

I had a co-worker who is a Developer ask me for help. He could not get his code to work. After some troubleshooting I found the problem. On of the methods did not exist. He used AI to generate the code, but it had made up a function and he did not catch it. Now if someone who codes for a living cannot figure out why it does not work, what chance do regular people have.

I've been waiting more than 20 years for my job to be sent overseas (still has not happened) and I guess I will probably be waiting till I retire for AI to replace my job. I see AI as helping me be more productive, but I doubt it will ever replace actual Developers. Kids need to learn to code.

consumption tax is regressive meaning poor people suffer more. If you have lots of money you don't have to spend it. To contribute their fair share it would be easier if they taxed on net worth. Then all the resources and costs that jeff bezos wastes would be directly paid for by him (like getting is mega yacht out of harbor) instead of regular people who can't pay their rent.

At least in texas we have power outages, because conservatives have made the power grid for profit and doing things like weatherizing costs money. There have been several severe freezes over the last couple of years and people have died due to their greed. As a result have they been forced to fix it? Nope. Money even if it puts blood on their hands apparently is more important.

I still agree with OP that even if they managed to get rid of the pirate streaming services they would not get 100% conversion. These folks are getting a superior product and then would be paying triple or more for a worse service. I would be surprised if they got a conversion of 10%. Honestly, for most of these services I would be surprised if they converted 0.1%.

and this is why people should limit their time and interaction with social media. They want "engagement", which keeps you on their platform longer and makes them more money. But for most people it it is at the expense of your mental health. All that controversy and anger has to go somewhere and in large doses it is not worth the damage it does to people in anxiety, depressive thoughts, anger, and negativity. You hear about it every once in a while where someone quits social media and then talks about how much better they feel. I was heavily reading social media and even pretty much only reddit, which I though was better than facebook and most of the others in regards to this. But after a stupid slap fight with another user, which I feel was prompted by reddit pushing controversial posts I quit using it altogether and have been shocked how much better I feel. At this point, based on my experience, I think most social media is poison for people.

This. I have a jeep grand cherokee and the only way to change some of the phone settings like deleting an old pairing is to talk to the car. It takes forever and is extremely frustrating. And it must of taken whoever developed that awful system forever as you have to get 3 or 4 levels in to even do what you want. Physical buttons are so much faster, easier to use, and reliable.

Everyone should be focusing on this and the equal application of consequences per ackman's own standard. If oxman does not resign them everyone should just ignore ackman.
