They want to believe aliens exist so anything that detracts from that is dismissed as lies or conspiracies. You could let them wander around every government facility, shadow every official and they'd still claim some elaborate ruse. They'd pretty much have to be bent over by aliens probing them before they were convinced of what they were seeing. It is more of a religious belief than an intellectual one.
You're supposed to reinvest most of the profits back into the company and wages instead of taking the lion's share and running off to Hawaii to build a bunker. You're also not supposed to take out loans against it and drive it into crippling debt. Reference any business with "venture", "equity" or "capital" in its name.
That has been a huge issue for years. The worst is when they don't put dates anywhere so I can't tell how old it is. I'm constantly hitting outdated parameter and config options.
Then there are the people who ask a question then go "I solved it!" without posting the solution. I hope there is a place in purgatory for them at least.
Plus with AI I *HATE* playing "Guess the right wording". I feel like I'm playing a text adventure from the 1980s. "Pull the knob"? "Push the knob?" "Push the knob on the wall"? wtf!?
The quality of the results I get from searching vs AI are worlds apart. I sometimes go to services like ChatGPT looking for specific technical information and the results I get are usually vague at best "To create a certificate first create your certificate..."
Use AI to strip productions of most of their staff and you're discouraging future generations from entering the business. Why even start if you'll just get replaced? Creativity will go with them.
It would've come to their attention via the SEC anyway. This way she comes out looking better. She could've been vulnerable to legal action otherwise.
You should be made to pass this test to get on an airplane.
Let's just release these rabbits in Australia. It'll be good for food and hunting!
It really needs to be stopped. At the very least the buyer should be banned from taking loans out against the acquired company and leaving it in debt, essentially guaranteeing its death. This hurts everyone, the creditors, the employees, the physical waste from closed facilities and society in general. It is a scummy, short term, parasitical practice.
Too many states restrict liquor sales so right off the bat they were limited. Then on top of it the demand for hard liquor isn't that great, you can't run it off of just the hardcore alcoholics. People buy it, maybe, on a monthly basis at most. Beer and wine are easy to get in most states at grocery stores. As others have said here you also have liquor stores that provide their own delivery services.
What I'd really love is if every state let you ship a few bottles legally to your home. My state is a gray area one, some will ship, some won't and technically it isn't legal but I've never heard it being enforced. I could get some of the specialty liquors that my state run liquor stores won't carry.
There is a reason it is called science FICTION.
You think this is bad you should see the comments on science postings on Facebook. Wow
Ah yes, we'll run off to Mars, maybe we can build huts on Titan. A perfectly good replacement for the earth so there is no reason to protect this planet. He saw it in sci-fi so it is perfectly feasible. God forbid anyone make the slightest effort to change their behavior instead of just plowing ahead.
I've said this for years but always get downvoted wherever I post it. Technological "fixes" just buy time as long as population increases. Every resource is limited and with poorer countries all desiring a western level of consumption there is no way to sustain that. For some reason there is a sizeable chunk of the population that feels that endless growth is a good thing, like bacteria.
We are blessed and cursed by our intelligence. We have the ability to exploit virtually every resource on the planet to a high degree but we are still slaves to our primal emotions, especially the one that drives us to constantly seek more and more to ward off hunger. We are no longer in danger of not having food (at least for the vast majority of us) but we've redirected this instinct to every other aspect of our lives like vehicles, luxuries, homes, money, etc. More more more
No amount of careful planning will ever replace dumb luck.
