Specially us integrators of av equipment.In large installations there are lots of problems with HDMI.One being the distance at which these signals can be transmitted.With component we take straight coax and bring the signal fair distances without loss of quality.Try that with a hdmi . needs boosters and if something is not to the taste of the player , it gets being hell quick.Nice to protect content , but this is being done at the expense of not being able to manipulate the signal and do what needs be done with it for our clients.
Problems with HDMI laptops to screen are numerous.I hope that format dies. It's nothing but trouble with pro a/v in offices , schools universities and government.There's nothing good about hdmi. Nothing but rights glorified dvi-d + sound + drm format anyways.
HDMI is a pos and should be abandoned.Not the component output.

BTW the wife which is a most serious genealogist ( 55000 people in her tree ) and has documents and photos or paintings for most of them received a lot of help from the LDS centers.Whether you share their ideals and ideas is besides the point.Their research units are fantastic we have been to 2. They welcome genealogists from all over and from all confessions. And before you ask i'm a an atheist without ties to LDS.

Several thousands of them. All without security .. send a few thousand flying in the morning
and use them all as flying bombs. Imagine the nightmare .
Low flying airplanes loaded with explosives falling out of the skies by the thousands.
Now THAT is scary. Im not scared by the large planes full of people.
Im concerned by all those thousands of private planes the FAA dont know zit about and that can suddenly be used as missiles.

I was thinking of a new form of government where elected officials have no right to vote on laws , rules , etc .. but where the citizen , through the net , would be asked to vote on the projects. I guess im not the only one.

Well well .. like every day now , we hear new idiocies coming out the US government.
While everyone takes a look at the cables , the USG , is saying , still classified and their employes and
people that want a job with the USG can't read them .. LOL
That was the funny part of the post.

The multiplication by the hundreds of mirrors ( list at cryptome is unbeleivably extensive ) the downloading of insurance
files and the mirroring of the old site with 11000 or so document is going on strong. I know , i got them all.
In fact if anything good is coming out of this is the involvement of the population in politics.It's waking up .
We were used to as citizens to see through a mesh fence , where we the casual observers see only through one small
square totally unaware of the bigger picture. Now we're getting sights of more and more of those squares and can see a way
better image. The more we see , the more we want to see. It's normal . We are thirsty for understanding and definitely want to see actions being taken or want to take action by ourselves. We dont need big government to tell us " you dont need to know what we do on your behalf " that's bullshit. The Government must be accountable to the people.Otherwise there is no democracy.
Just disguised dictatorship.What we see , what we hear is changing people. We're for the publication or we're against. But i don't know of anyone who is well educated that says otherwise than it's a good thing.Cause frankly , it can't be.
If there hadn't been leaks , the photos of torture that we saw from Irak and Guantanamo Bay and other places , the USA would still be torturing detainees. If there hadn't been leaks and the system would be air tight , a lot of criminal activity would still go on in the USG and it's arms. Oh granted , it still goes on, but as the public gets better and better informed , those activities are becoming less and less likely to happen. Accountability saved a many detainee from being tortured , against conventions the US signed btw.

Like i saw on twitter a short while ago :

Go multiply the mirrors the sites and start some of your own in your countries . Go on and multiply.
Read what they dont want you to.Seek knowledge and enlightenment. Information and ideas need to be free.
Let the information be free so that we may one day , in a distant future , live in peace.
Let those who try to convince you that the right thing to be is an ignorant make their calls without echos.
Let their voices die down in the void of mediocrity of cheats and liars.
They want to cheat you of your right to know.Cheat you of the accountability the government has to be kept under.
Leave them shout in anger without replies. Remember : Never argue with an imbecile , they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Maybe the US don't want to show how crooked they are but we from outside have more than a right to know.

for long distance travel : think about an electrified track of some sort and automatic guidance That way there's no real limit to the distance and you can recharge batteries as you go.

Might be old .. but if you do have files that need to stay private , can't one use steganography and use carrier files ?
Or is that so old and broken one cant even hide the fact they got files they want to keep private and simply show a good old style photo album or music collection ?

Well in the digital age and using computers we kind of have a problem .
Streamripper is one solution and it works great. You just record a radio station.
At the end of the day you get hundreds of recordings and though the transition cuts aren't perfect
we still get acceptable results.
What's this got to do with piracy ?
First off , if we have this ability to record on the air broadcasts , we need it's digital equivalent.
Fair use is fair use and if recording a broadcaster is ok , so is the internet radio stations.
The use of a network connection or an antenna dosen't change the facts , There is fair use.
Now , the technology behind streamripper and other applications to record what we listen to is a bit too harsh for the casual listener , many people don't have a clue how to do this.So here comes the file sharing sites.People get songs there because they don't have a clue how to record their internet radio stations and turn to sharing software to do so.
Not everyone's a criminal trying to kill the majors.( They do a hell of a job themselves by publishing crap and attacking everyone.)
Just simple folks that dont understand technology and that dont know how to do this legally.Sounds about right for a single Mom dosent it ?

It is already hellish !
We got the highest telecom rates in the world.
They squeeze us like lemons and there's f'all we can do about it.
Same with cell , same with phone.
There is no REAL competition and we pay through the nose for an inferior product.

Really nice.

They admit publicly to break the Patriot act willingly.That is a stupid move on their part.
Second the vigilante part : Call the justice department in masses and ask to deposit a complaint
against them.Heck .. they are probably the types that would sue their own moms. Again find
time to write the Justice department.The EFF would certainly like to look into this.
Oh .. sending faxes is also nice :)
