Comment Re:Instant Noodles don't cause obesity elsewhere (Score 1) 242

Clearly, you're eating it wrong.

or you just need to be more Japanese. /s

But based on some science studies, it could be due to metabolism. A lot of Asian have higher metabolism in general, which means they use up the food energy faster an renew their body faster (body oil, hair, etc). While those with lower metabolism means they us up the food energy slower (bigger muscle, bigger body, etc). Not to mention Asia local food are in general smaller in portion in comparison to like western portion because Asian usually have a relatively smaller stomach requirement.

However in regarding to obesity in general, it is based on a very simple concept, you eat it, you gain it. When you ate something and you haven't moved, some of the energy is stored. When you store a lot of energy, some became fat. When you use more ready energy than the body has, you use up the stored fat. So if you care about being obesity, just find a way to use up the energy of what you've ate or just eat less (tricking your stomach being full can result in eating less).

Comment Re:USB-C seems odd (Score 1) 223

This is based on other people's conclusion, but it could be due to the factor of faster charging.

The lighting cable provided higher charging compare to the microUSB or USB-type B, so it makes sense that Apple would want a newer and better design, the lighting cable. However with USB-type C, Apple has to consider the more powerful charging that other smartphone will now have compare to the iPhone. Apple has only a few choices, 1) to build a new lighting cable which will probably be bigger, 2) use the existing design to save manufacture and design cost, 3) pick alternative (there are other ways to increase battery charging speed in exchange for lower battery life), or 4) not doing anything. It seems like they've picked the second choice.

Finland's Universal Basic Income research will very like reflect the Hierarchy of Needs like some commenters noted.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
except it will have more in between ranks.

Basically if the UBI is high enough, a lot of people that found out their Physiological needs and maybe Safety needs are met will be looking for a higher need. This is the part where we get maybe 75% of the test population will be lazy and look forward to do lazy things, watch tv, gaming, entertainment, relationship, etc. 25% of the test population look for an even higher need with variety of goals with just maybe less than 10% will move forward to something better (higher pay, new researches, volunteer, etc).

In fact, teenagers and the retired will be a good reflection on the research result. They rarely think about food, water or shelter and watch what they do when they're free. Most do lazy things, very few go for a higher needs.

The only drawback is that when they are looking for lazy things, we will need a lot of entertainment contents (like what we see in today's world), otherwise some will be doing a lot of unexpected/ unwanted things. Before when everyone is focus on getting a job, we have focus on sustaining and everything around money. With UBI, everyone will get bored. We will need to focus more on entertainment to get their boredom away. (are we in a matrix?)

Overall UBI will resolve only a part of the issue, while we will need another solution for the other issue to constantly ease humans need and another solution if we want to promote more innovation.

Mandatory Police Body Cameras = Lots of Selfies

Mandatory Police Body Cameras + Government only = Mass Surveillance

Mandatory Police Body Cameras + Full Public Access = Public Display

The Mandatory Police Body Cameras were implemented to avoid polices from shooting random black people and getting away with it. A lot of innocent people were killed with no justice with cops overpowering them in court, while other times police have a hard time presenting their judgement on the situation.

Case in point, it was to protect the citizens and the polices from corruption. The citizens see the police with the camera and believe the officer will follow order (and not kill them). The polices see the citizen behaves to avoid being sued.

As long as the citizens can review the result (any corruption from police), it is a fair system, which is better than the they have money and win lawsuits regardless of you're right or wrong. Some other points, the polices should be able to record as long as he/she is in a public location. The citizens should have the right to decline those polices from entering private properties, and the cameras should also be in a closed system without internet to avoid hacks.

Face Recognition on the other hand... is stupid. Unless the camera concluded the subject as a criminal (recorded stealing), why would they need face recognition (using thief face to find name)? To mark wrong targets and show how bad software companies are? We know polices are stupid and companies are incompetent. We don't need more stupidity in this world.

From the internet, the cost of paying upfront is $750,000 (may vary depends on source).

Also remember 5% is cheap to start but it adds up depend on your revenue. Let's say you get 42k in a year, that's (42,000 - (3000 x 4)) x 0.05 = $1500 royalty cost.

Unless you earn over 15mil, I don't think any 14 year old will pay upfront.

Back to topic, the point is not really directly related to 3rd party engine but about their view on license and development control with business issue. Nintendo own business isn't doing well for some time adding to more and more developers not in favor of developing in an extreme closed garden (Nintendo console) has made them worse. Their current stand is hoping more developers will come back to develop for their Nintendo Switch instead of iOS or Android by adding a bridge to make it looks more open (until you read the Nintendo publish license/ cost).
