Competition for shared resources is not the same thing as raiding a farmer's field because you were too stupid or lazy to plan ahead.

You typed your message in on equipment developed by the modern equivalent of farmers, investing and developing.

I'm not defending the OP's issue, but your statment has been disproven -- humanity has tried systems where things were "much more oriented around the common good", meaning "not-capitalism", and all it yielded was people peeking over walls wondering why they had to stand in line 8 hours for bread while we had shelves full of boom boxes and blue jeans.

Extra costs will hurt small guys more than big ones, who are already probably spending a lot more on lawyers specifying things than the government fees.

In many cases it's about cockblocking competitors, not limited to trolls, and no little stinking fee is gonna get in the way of multimillion dollar operations.

This amounts to a silencing of opposition. It is not censorship, of course, because it does not involve angry men with guns.

It does involve, however, angry men misusing the Slashdot system.

With any luck, people who go to suspicious sites that "have software you can install that defeats Punkbuster!" will get what they deserve.

And I say that as a dad who had to reinstall the OS several times due to kids installing gameplay "helpers" their "friends" recommended. One picked dollars off a money tree for some online Tamogotchi-like pet game. It worked as a cheat, just came with a little, unspecified bonus feature.

Lotsa "Gotcha!" type talk, but at the end of the day ICANN has anti-cybersquatting and othet rules. The rest is courts which, contrary to FUD, Libertarians rely on as one of the core, legitimate features of government.

Would such an organization exist sans government? Some kind of mutual agreements would exist for networking -- it does at hardware and electrical and transport levels.
