Journal Journal: Like returning to Usenet after a prolonged absence 2

So I quit the sewer known as Farcebook a few months ago...took 11 years of posts, pictures, etc. with me. Some of them were automatically duplicated on my website as I posted them; the rest are in an archive I downloaded before letting the delete script do its thing.

Perhaps it's time to start posting a bit more often here again. :)

Journal Journal: I'm Joe Biden, and I forgot this message.

Did you Demonrats really just nominate the creepy pedo / hair sniffing / dementia patient Joe Biden?

You know, the guy who creates characters like bad dude "Corn Pop" when he's not getting overly touchy with kids? You did. You really did it.

Thanks for making this easy.

Journal Journal: Aw, man....

The rat-faced, Alfred E. Neumann wannabe Pete Bootyjudge dropped out.

How will Demonrats decide which commie to vote for now?

Journal Journal: How To Unite The Country in 3 Easy Steps

Step 1: Give the Democratic Nomination to Mini-Mike Bloomberg
Step 2: The country unites behind Trump, who wins in a landslide as both Democrats and Republicans alike seem to hate Mini-Mike "NO SODA FOR YOU!" Bloomberg.
Step 3: Reap the economic rewards of 4 more years of Trumponomics, which has given us an excellent (if not quite historic yet) economy.

So c'mon Demonrats. Do the right thing - none of the Demonrats running have a chance of beating Trump - Crazy Bernie is a pinko commie, Pocahontas is female Bernie, Bootyjudge is just a more masculine Beto, Biden's gone completely insane, and Klobuchar's run out of stuff to throw at staffers.

So do the right thing, Demonrats. Vote for Mini-Mike.

... there was a "Circle".

Not sure why I thought of it, but figured I'd throw a shout-out and see who's still around and kicking.

So who's still out there? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Journal Journal: Computer Programming Languages

I have spent years working with an assortment of programming languages - C, C++, Pascal/Delphi, Fortran, Ada, MS-DOS batch scripts (I didn't say all *good* languages), bash/csh scripts, SAS, PHP, Javascript...among others. Until recently I would have identified C++ as my "favorite" language. But that is changing.

The more I work with Perl, the more I like it. Yes, I know it's losing ground to Python (a language I do not like even a little). Like every other language I have used it is not perfect, but it does have a lot going for it - it's well-designed (though quirky in a few areas), it allows me to do things that would take twice as long to do in other languages, and I like the community support when I do occasionally get stuck.

Journal Journal: [linux] BlueStar Linux 5

Yes, I'm still here. Yes, I know hardly anyone will read this. No, I don't especially care.

Recently I decided to change Linux disctributions on my main system and I installed BlueStar. It is an Arch-based distro which is a new experience for me; I have been using RedHat-based distros for ages, specifically Scientific. I wanted to try something new, and I ended up on BlueStar based on the reputation of Arch and based on a few reviews.

Wow. Wish I had done this years ago. It's faster, it has a better layout, its package manager works well even though it's a little strange, and it runs my VMs just fine. I can run either CentOS or Scientific in a VM so I can still keep up with certification, but I think BlueStar is my new primary distro of choice.

I don't know if I will post more here or not. I need an outlet, and I have not found a social media platform that works for me.

Journal Journal: tumbleweeds 8

Mostly any more I come here because I like the summary I get of Ars from my slashbox that shows it's feed. Kind of funny. I do run down the headlines at least once a day. But I've usually already read a lot about whatever they are over at reddit.

I have a subscription to soylent but it's never really stuck for me.

I'd love to see something like slashdot was a while back but I don't think it will happen again - or maybe it wont on anything I'm involved in anyway. I mean honestly, I'm not part of what made slashdot awesome when it was. It was people who were a lot more knowledgeable and/or smarter than me. I hung around to see what they had to say - and then the cirlcle really locked me in for a while but that spun out too.

I did enjoy making good amazon money off the book reviews for a while. And by good I mean like $600 - $900 a year - not a lot but it was fun for buying books and games.

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand'ring bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me prov'd,
I never writ, nor no man ever lov'd.
