A language model produces language based on its training data. There is no way for it to produce something that is true, it just produces tokens which have a high probability of following the previous tokens. If your training data is legal documents then it will just be very good at producing legal documents that *look* right.

So maybe an AI can do what you say, but it won't be one that is based on the language models we're seeing today.

OPEC already had to cut production on oil to keep up the price.

Most EU countries are heavily subsidising heat pump installations so natural gas is less and less of a problem. Germany has built 2 new large LNG terminals and other countries are finally looking at large gas pipes networks (France was holding back on a pipe from Spain till recently).

The Russian/Ukrainian war has sped up all sorts of market changes that were due to happen anyway. That's usually the effect of wars: existing trends speed up.

It's way better to use GPS. Identity/authentication systems like Kerberos (used on e.g. Windows) rely on precise time to work correctly, as do NFS filesystems. As mentioned elsewhere relay stations (often satellites) introduce seconds worth of delays. Have you ever seen a broadcast on TV where the TV signal itself is in the background of the image? You can actually see the image in the background is like a second late - and that signal is local!

GPS is also broadcast so no reason to rely on regular radio. Well I guess in that sense GPS *is* radio so maybe that's what you meant.

That's simply not true. People weren't looking all that hard in their own back yards, or seized production when China competed them out of the market.

Rare earths are found everywhere, the real difference is the kind of rocks they're inside of. These define how difficult (i.e. expensive) they are to extract.
