Yup. I've had cable Internet for at least a decade, but there's been a handful of times when that got knocked out by a storm. In those cases, the dial up modem pool our university fortunately still maintains made it possible for me to (slowly) do work from home.

While that is true, what's different is those other companies generally get reamed when they pull a switch like that - Google, on the other hand, gets a free pass from lots of people.
