Java devs certainly have devolved through the years. It's rare I can meet one who knows how to code a service without adding in Spring Boot and a crap ton of frameworks. Those are ok in the VM / Container world but when in autoscaling envs (Google App Engine, AWS Lambda, etc), the overhead is horrible. Yet, they can't seem to break away from the pattern.

Nice attempt to inject politics, but that's not why FB is in trouble.

It's clear Zuck finds FB "boring". He's been searching for things other than FB for a while. Before Meta, there was Libra Coin. And before that there are plenty of failed attempts that no one bothers to remember. Everything FB has done successfully in recent history is because of who they bought. There's no innovation left there.

The problem with big numbers is they sound so big that they can solve anything, until you take the time to do some math... Let's take your high side: $65B. Now, number of households in US: 122M. 65B / 122m = ~$530

That's not gonna go very far in putting in panels everywhere practical, and doesn't even touch factories or businesses.

I'm similar. When I play multiplayer, it's COOP based like Borderlands or Mass Effect. I don't find it fun to play against other players anymore. For the most part, I find that when folks have mics in PvE, they tend to be more respectful, fun, and enjoyable to talk with. With PvE, you win or lose as a group as opposed to as individuals. With PvP you end up with a whole different attitude to the chat, and that's simply not one I have time in my life for anymore.

There's sizable differences though. Uber / Lyft enforces several standards about your car, it's presentation, etc. Uber / Lyft also punish you for declining a ride. Uber / Lyft don't show you the complete route, or the complete fare, until you have actually picked up the passenger(s).

InstaCart doesn't care what your car looks like. It shows you the pickup location as well as the final delivery location. InstaCart shows you exactly what you'll earn, including any pre-tip the customer has offered (granted, there has been issues with customers tip-scamming people). There's no detriment to not accepting a delivery.

Uber / Lyft have a lot more of an "employee-like" relationship with their people than InstaCart / DoorDash do.
