No, no and no. Might want to try your suggestions - before you suggest them - and look at your results first.
1. "hardware nails" return tacks (clearly stated in the title/description). And - if you didn't know the keyword "hardware"; the suggestion is useless for each additional item. In one instance -- I've called Amazon; and we were not able to reduce invalid results, and I had to look (go) elsewhere.
2. "centuri" with quote: no; it doesn't work. I have a long email thread seeking support from offer up; where that variation (and searching for "centuri - century") all failed. They never have presented a viable option.
3, "mercury redstone" (with quotes) in Shapeways - returns two items: "yolo vase holder" & "Ring Poem". I've also tried "mercury-redstone" (quotes and dash) which cannot find "1/200 AMT Man In Space Mercury-Redstone Extension". (Irony: "mercuryredstone" - no quotes; no space; found one "mercury-redstone")

The 'bad search' seems to be going everywhere; and they are all getting worse. Amazon is the worst; try and search for "nails"; then click on "Tools & Home Improvement". Everything you wanted to know about painting your nails (on your hands). For me - Amazon's search engine is so bad; I avoid shopping there; as I can never find what I'm looking for - not to mention they are "too big".

And now other companies are following suite with bad searches.
"offer up"; if you search for "centuri"; it will automatically change the search to "century"; and you cannot find any "centuri" item(s).
eBay - is returning items that are not in the search criteria too; and they are getting worse at returning items I'm not looking for (and are not related to the search).

It is frustrating to have to try and work around bad search engines (which include: bing; duck; google ...) and if you want to have some serious fun; search for a product with two words. I've stopped searching (buying) form Shapeways (and others) -- if I am searching for "mercury restone"; you will get "mercury" (planet for example); merged with results from "redstone" (not quite sure what it is; but there is a lot of them).

Related rant -- injecting advertisements in the search results. I realize they are trying to make a buck; but if I can't find what I'm looking for (or swamped with outside garbage) - they are not going to get any business. One example: when I look on "offer up"; I know about eBay - and don't need (want) to see from random eBay items in the results that are returned. I also don't want to see advertisements for the item/company that was searching for - for the next six months!

Currently the only company - search engine that works as expected is Craigs List; though sometimes it has issues with plural item(s).

I would like to block all email (and out of country) based texts; that option is not open to me.

One suggestion - option: for every spam text that is received: a 'bounty' for every text received that isn't blocked. The carrier must pay you!

Submission + - SPAM: Adobe Uses DMCA To Nuke Project That Keeps Flash Alive

An anonymous reader writes: In January 2021, development and support for Adobe Flash was discontinued. That marked the end of an era but in reality, Flash wasn't quite dead. Flash Player is still available in China, something that was exploited by the Clean Flash project to continue making the software more widely and safely available. The Chinese version of Flash receives one security update per month and can be freely downloaded from Flash.cn but also has significant strings attached. It comes preinstalled with an adware program called Flash Helper which, according to security sources, exhibits malicious behavior. Developed by ‘darktohka’ and previously located on Github, Clean Flash Installer solves these problems and more. “Clean Flash Installer installs this up-to-date freely available version of Flash, but it comes WITHOUT the adware program,” darktohka informs TorrentFreak. “As such Clean Flash Installer can be used by anyone to use a relatively secure version of Flash Player after the support for Flash ended.”

The developer says that he was inspired to create his tool to keep Flash content alive, something which he says was a huge part of his childhood. Adobe appears to be less enthusiastic about his work and following a DMCA notice filed with Github, the developer platform has nuked the project. In a DMCA complaint filed with Github on October 4, 2021, a legal representative acting for Adobe explains that the Clean Flash Installer project breaches copyright law. “Adobe Inc. is the copyright owner and I am authorized to act on its behalf. Our Adobe Flash Player software has been infringed. The files in question contain our proprietary Adobe Inc. owned copyrighted materials (software code),” it reads, adding that the project must be removed.

I had a similar issue with eBay and my wife's phone. They (eBay, PP, MS and others) assume that your phone is tied to your account (I don't for several reasons). While away from home (taking my wife to a hospital) I had internet access (Wifi) using her phone. Attempted to place a bid on an item; and it/they wanted another level of verification. When I called to ask if there was something that I could do; the 'in person' verification got even stranger (such as: 20 years ago; what address did you live at?)

Their (Instagram) help is useless as you need to at least partially log in before you can 'appeal'; which is not an option. For me the big thing is contact with another person (friend) - using Instagram. (I use if for very little, so there was no violation of TOS).

Wikipedia did something similar. In my 'work area' - I had a article that was NOT ready for publishing. It was deleted. When I asked why; and started an appeal process, I was banned for life. I found out later that I was being stalked by the person who banned me.

As a result; I now have local copies of my work - which includes backups. But when the hammer comes down, and you've done nothing wrong: who can you appeal to?

None of the companies have a meaningful feedback mechanism. For all of them -- their quality SUCKS. They are big enough that; who else are you going to go to?
For me; it is - when I see the video bug, stop scrolling down. For Yahoo, I've almost abandon it. For eBay -- don't leave any feedback -- and I'm cutting back. The thing is that these are people {managers} have no clue about quality or testing. The suggestion of ''Let's have developers test their on code'' is insane. Time and time again, developers can't write bug free code; and are unable to properly test. Why should they? They will be paid to fix it on the next release! (Which they never do). I've reviewed developers written automation. One test case - did nothing (and reported that it was successful). A group of test cases (about 40%) passed with the server "down". None of the automated test cases (written by dev's) gave any rational as what they were doing, or the goals of the test case. Were they testing the GUI function, the server function, the ability to get the job done ... ? (No documentation... I have NEVER seen a dev write a test case that made sense by reading it). Yes, they (frequently) write great code. But you need a tester behind it writing test cases; both manual and automated.
