This reminds me of the SCO lawsuit, where the most they ever found was, what, 7 lines of infringing code which SCO themselves had nicked from AT&T UNIX?

A little off-topic I know, but IBM was never found to have infringed on any code from SCO. SCO tried to *claim* some code that was already licensed under a FLOSS license was the same as their code and thus infringed on their IP. They made a big deal of this to the press forcing them to sign NDA's & "showing them the code".

Comment Re:When upgrades break code (Score 1) 432

This problem is endemic in open source unfortunately, and not just for developers - constant UI change, application deprecation/replacement, etc.

Which is why most projects will put older versions into a maintenance mode doing security/bug fixes but no new features *before* arbitrarily EOL'ing that version and dropping support.

Comment Re:Offline side-by-side Python (Score 1) 432

If you swapped out the Python that came with the system with a new, incompatible Python, chances are good that it break so hard it wouldn't even be able to boot up.

I had an arrogant developer who did just that on a RHEL6 system. He stomped* on the system python (/usr) with python 3.X.
This effectively broke most of the package management ( yum was completely screwed) along with a ton of system tools.

* he installed from source over top of the system RPM files rather than just put his version of python somewhere out of the way like /opt or /usr/local. He did not uninstall the rpms ( he realistically couldn't ) so he grabbed a bigger hammer. Dumb ass.

Obama has been the single largest enemy of the Constitution since taking office. Being a "Constitutional Lawyer" only provided him with the tools to make end-runs around the document that defines this country.

This being the man that campaigned on "Change" and "Transparency" in govt.

"How can you tell Obama is lying? His lips are moving."
