Submission + - How to fix Slashdot Beta? 17

Forbo writes: Since the migration to Slashdot Beta was announced, it seems all meaningful discussion has been completely disrupted with calls to boycott and protest. Rather than pull an Occupy, what can be done to focus and organize the action? What is the end goal: To revert entirely to the previous site, or to address the problems with the new site?

I honestly don't understand why Apple is on this list. They're pretty much the final computer company that will just sell you a computer, and not tie it into a million services that track your identity, and try to spam you/sell you.

Setting up Mavericks:
- "Oh, hey, sign in with your AppleID for everything iCloud!" No, shut up, I don't need your crap.
- "You really should turn on location services so we know where you are at any given time!" No, shut up, you don't need that.
- "Hey, in order to update the applications that come with the OS by default, you're going to need an AppleID with a credit card attached." No, shut up.

Please, tell me again how Apple isn't trying to tie me into a million services that track me.

Rather than just calling someone an idiot, here's some actual useful information to provide a real rebuttal to that point:

Local Storage Options
Chromebooks provide a limited amount of internal storage: the amount of storage available depends on the model of Chromebook you own and start at 16GB and rise to 300GB of internal, local storage. All Chromebooks provide an SD card slot so you can extend storage using SD memory cards.

Thank you for assuming that I haven't ever suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. If anything, you've just insulted the very group you were trying to "defend". When you believe that every person in a crowded room is watching you and can read your thoughts, then you can talk to me about the suffering. When you're afraid to turn on the radio because the advertisements are specially crafted secret codes trying to tell you the secrets behind reality, then maybe you'll understand what I've suffered from. When I went to DefCon and could hear people whispering my name as I wandered through the crowd, being scared to the point where I needed to retreat to my room, is a pretty recent reminder of how constant a presence this mental illness has in my life. So please, don't belittle me.
