In that sure you remove gun powder... but you still need to get the energy from somewhere to power those lasers/railguns. Unless your ship has a nuclear reactor on board won't this generally mean having to carry a whole load of additional fuel? Granted some fuels have higher energy densities. But doesn't this just transfer risk away from ship magazines to the fuel tanks instead?

Because if they can fly and move in all directions they can become dangerous. For example an artillery shell/mortar has to travel in a ballistic path so if you park your tent behind a cliff face unless it is very high arc artillery you can't be hit. A mini drone can fly around the hill in a manner an artillery shell or mortar cant and into your tent with soft squishy humans in it then explode.

Back in 6th form college (16-18 UK education) the only place with fast internet was the college. As such we would turn up with huge sports bags filled with floppies to download big files and the files were often split into how many ever floppies was needed. There were some funny ones where 1gb files were split into hundreds of floppies. Invariably when you joined the file back together one of the floppies would be corrupt. Anyway I'd say that it is MUCH harder to smuggle large amounts of data out using floppies than SD cards and therefore it is probably strange but semi effective security system.

I don't think it is a good idea. But the government (who I did not vote for) put in sanctions against Russia which caused this. I know the UK has a limited supply of food. The widespread use of rolling warehouses (lorries) and just in time stock means the UK has about 7 days food. Back when Felixstowe was closed for 4 days supermarket shelves were starting to go bare and all there were left were sweets and stuff like Liquorice allsorts the big black twisty ones everybody hates. Personally I'm not fussed as I keep myself fit and healthy and therefore will hunt the local human population.

Not sure if it is relevant but in the UK there are several things: Property taxes (council tax) you get a 25% discount if there is only one person there. Various forms of welfare. You get more if you live alone and do not declare you are living with somebody (same for some pensions). Homes of multiple occupancy. There have been various slum lords turning small houses into 8+ flats/apartments without licences and safety regulations. As such places in London stuff 30 people into a house designed for 3 at most. Prostitution also. In the UK sex work is completely legal (not in NI though) subject to various restrictions. Street solicitation and one sex worker per residence. Therefore if you have one sex worker working in a house it is completely fine. Add in (or a non prostitute friend who visits I'm serious) a maid or muscle/pimp/security and it suddenly becomes a brothel even though there is only one sex worker there. As such many skirt the law by building self contained apartments inside a single house. So you get 31a 31b 31c 31d which is deemed to be separate residences. Local government gets to charge 4 lots of property taxes etc.
