Yep. And the problem now is that you can not get parts. I just hope that they new systems will not be stuck running Windows. I guess you could use Freedos
Wow, just how many clueless people are on Slashdot posting as ACs?
"No good deduplication software? Don't put duplicate data on the system in the first place!"
Okay Sparky you have 5000 users on a server and that all save that email about vacation time or the pictures from the office party. Redundant data. This is a large system with lots of users, it is not for you leet Linux box you have in your mom's basement. Your plays on Microsoft's name are also childish and over done. Now there is a valid argument that deduplication of data should be done at the array level so that it does not need to be filesystem dependant but that is an argument for knowledgeable adults and not for the likes of you.
You may go now, you bore me. You may come back when you learn enough to be interesting.
You then turn it off.... And go take your meds.
I do not think you know what DeDup means. You as a user still see two copies of the file. If you make changes to one copy of the file it will only change that copy of the file. It is not like a link. In other words it is totally transparent to the end user but saves drive space. So if you work in a large organization and someone sends out an email to all 4000 people that email will only take up the space of one email. Even if everyone saves it the imap server.
In other words you do not know what you are talking about, you probably do not need these functions because you probably do not run a server or servers for a large organization, you seem to have some anger issues, and maybe just a little nuts.
I would say that you should look at BSD then. If you are willing to go open souce anyway FreeBSD offers ZFS. Too bad that more hardware and software companies do not support BSD as well as Linux.
I saw the Hobbit in HFR IMax 3d and it was interesting. What I saw was the live shots looked great. The special effects in my opinion looked worse. The realism of the live shots contrasted with the effects shots to me. For instance the scene where the rabbit drawn sled was running from the Orcs.
Exactly right. Take a POS system aka a cash register. A 386 will do just fine for that and probably has for a number of years. Why spend the money and cause the pollution of replacing it? I believe that the 2. x kernels will be getting updates for a while so you are probably okay.
Yes but not exactly the way you think it happened. NASA wanted a smaller shuttle to well shuttle astronauts and supplies to a space station. NASA also wanted in improved Saturn V "The uprated F1a was already in testing" as well. Congress said no you can have which ever is cheaper.
Congress also wanted it to do all the military launches so they had to put big spy sats into polar orbits. Without military support no shuttle. NASA was fighting for their lives at the time.
We can put a man on the moon but we can not "fill in your social cause or pet project here"!
Well we can't put men on the moon anymore! Happy now!
It never made sense that Microsoft didn't use Live for FSX.
Ouya, Google TV, and Even Apple TV could be big winners for inde developers. Apple TV has Bluetooth so it would be easy to support controlers. While not all games would work ports would be pretty easy. Frankly an Apple TV with the guts of the iPad without the screen or a Google TV with the guts of a Nexus 10 without the screen would be plenty for a lot of games. Seems silly that Google and Apple do not jump into that market.
I think you misuderstood what he said. If you kept reading you would read,"Consumer mobile equipment is starting to see ludicrous DPI even in middle of the road devices".
Mobile devices like the iPhone, iPad, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Samsung S3, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, Kindle Fire HD, and so on all are providing very high DPI displays. It is a real shame that HDTVs have made 1080p displays so cheap that it is now the standard for most desktops.
I would go with a Yagi or a multi element beam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yagi-Uda_antenna
You could start out with just a half wave dipole .
Here a a very good site to get you started.

The problem is that maps will not help you find the Holiday Inn in Okeechobee, FL or the nearest gas station.
It is easier than that.
Just put in an LCD touch screen, GPS, whatever radio that the owner wants and provide a USB+HDMI connectors.
Your phone can use the HDMI to display on the cars touch screen and send audio back to the stereo. The USB powers the phone and allows the phone to control the radio, get data from the built in GPS and maybe read hard buttions if their are any and to get data from the car or control other functions.
The reason i put in a GPS when most phones have one is that a car GPS could have a larger built in antenna. They should include a cheap IMU for the times GPS hickups. The electronics become a dumb display for your device. For people that do not want a smart phone people could sell stand alone Nav and MP3 systems that just the built in GPS and or the car makers could put in some limted functions for people without smart phones. You could go farther if you wanted and have a standard to connect modules to your car to expand the functions maybe USB?
And a one TB Portable drive and have all you music and movies available. Game systems? Of course for the passengers only. Seems like a no brainer to me but the car companies make too much money off infotainment systems.
I have very good luck with Ryobi tools with their Lithium ion batteries. They drill also has a driver mode and the same battery fits a few different flashlights they have. They also have an impact driver and a hammer drill if you need to mount things on concrete walls.
Only through hard work and perseverance can one truly suffer.
