I've been living in this flat for about four years now, I got a couple packs of energy efficient bulbs for free not long after I moved in from my electricity company. I'm pretty sure I haven't had to change a bulb in that whole span. In the future I think that changing a lightbulb will be one of those hilarious things people used to do in olden times like rewinding a tape or using a floppy disc.

Are you quite sure you don't have a monarchy, or at least a ruling class? For example if Hillary Clinton had won the Democratic primary and won the 2008 election, the last 20 years of the presidency would have been held by just two families. And that's just the political ruling class, not even going into the stupendously enormous wealth gap and the power the 1% and 0.1% wield. Citizen's United means that a billionaire holds a hell of a lot more power than your one vote and 10 dollar donation. I would posit that you do have a ruling class, you just don't dress them up in robes and a crown.

Ok so what are the supposed benefits of DST? Percentage of the workforce working farming etc who need the extra daylight is vanishingly small and will only get smaller. Any energy savings from using less lighting is negated by switching to LED bulbs over incandescent. Any extra daylight benefits in general are surely completely negated by the disruption to people's sleep schedules and timetables twice a year. What else, it adds needless complication to timezone differences which in a global economy are already bad enough. It's a completely outdated idea that is just irritating as a convention that you are forced to follow because everyone else does. It's not even something that you can boycott unless you like showing up an hour late or early for all your appointments. It's just stupid.

I visit my doctor quite often (once a month or so), because he likes to check i'm not going manic or suicidal. What a weirdo. Anyway i'm lucky in that i'm in the UK and it's free at the point of use. If I had to shell out cash every time I saw him, I would probably just sit and stew at home and be more likely to do something stupid.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what they think. It's somehow our fault that they spent the time we were industrialising, sitting growing rice in paddy fields. They for some reason must now repeat all our mistakes like overuse of coal and dirty industries and every middle class family owning multiple cars... because?

I pirate because the uploaders provide an infinitely better service than the cable companies or even Hulu/Netflix etc. I get DRM/region free ad-free files that work on any device, at great resolutions and quality, barely minutes after the episode has aired. Why the hell would I go back to their terrible services when that option is open to me? Now yes i'm not paying for the content, but often that's not an option anyway, (see The Oatmeal's comic on trying to buy Game of Thrones online). As has been voiced a million times, if these companies fired all their old idiot suits and brought out a 'Steam for movies/tv' that had all the added value that Steam brings it would take off like a rocket.

Who *want* to pay for your magazine because you put out quality, incisive and interesting journalism. People will always be able to pirate or share stuff available online, but if you build a good sized readership who like your output enough to pay for it, that won't matter. www.nsfwcorp.com is a great example, they do brilliant investigative reporting with some brilliant writers and are just all around great. Subscription is currently $3 a month for online and $7 a month for print and online. They also have a cool little feature where subscribers can "unlock" a piece for 48 hours with a link, great for passing around Twitter and building awareness and audience.
