Comment Maybe you are wrong (Score 5, Insightful) 276

One of the problems with taking your position is you might be wrong. I know it's popular on /. to trash anyone with a business degree as a know nothing douchebag, but sometimes perspective outside of the core engineering effort can pay dividends. Instead of trashing the guy and trying to go over his head to torpedo his job, try working with him. You might be surprised what happens if you take a constructive tone.

Plenty of people seem to be failing to understand that a tablet is not and never will be a laptop replacement for doing laptop style things. Including microsoft it would appear, who are designing products by committee/feature tickbox sheet without any thoughts as to what it will be used for in the real world.

The only reason you think the tablet cannot be a laptop replacement is because Steve Jobs told you so. Some, like me, don't like schlepping around a second device because I might need the other. I'm not sure it will work, but it might. And for that I will give it a try.

Microsoft has negotiated agreements with Android vendors for licensing. According to you, Google has the right to sue for 2.25% of revenue because they don't like how much their business partners negotiated to pay Microsoft in licensing. 2.25% of revenue for wifi FRAND licenses is clearly orders of magnitude out of line. Google is digging itself a big hole here. THIS issue is one of the keys to the potential antitrust suit against Google and rather than see the obvious writing on the wall, they choose to double down on it. Not a wise judgement in my view.

Comment Demonstrate your drive (Score 0) 306

I wouldn't call myself ageist, but if I were to pick any reason why I might be hesitant to hire someone 60+, it would be based on the assumption you don't have the drive for it anymore. Having been out of work, I hope for your sake you've been keeping yourself busy for the past 3 years working on something related- smartphone apps, websites, open source projects, whatever. If not, I would probably write you off too. Sorry to say but true.
