TLDR, is OWNED by a private company? Or just BUILT by a private company? Because as far as I know, there aren't any government agencies in the US that specialize in building HSR.

They're the only ones to benefit. Besides, CA has received billions to build high-speed rail to connect SF to LA and after a decade of "work" they are still struggling to get a training running in the San Joaquin Valley, a huge, relatively desolate and flat farming area of the state. They should kill the SF-LA plan and go for LA-LV which should have more riders than a LA-SF link. If LA-LV works, they can use the proceeds for the next rail project.
It's not like it used to be. There's much more to Las Vegas than just gambling. For one thing, they just got a new Raiders stadium near the Strip.
Cars have more features and houses are bigger so that might justify the higher prices.
But the lower end is gone or nearly so, so that really hurts. For example, it is very hard to find a small starter home, it's all McMansions now where you need a mortgage that's +$1 million. New single income families are locked out.
And cheap bare bones cars aren't made anymore. You used to be able to buy a small econo car or pick up with just a basic radio and A/C for under $15k. Now you are looking at $30k plus for the basics. Pick ups are getting up to $100k!!!
The infrastructure is already there so adding a few thousand "free" accounts can't really cost Microsoft anything but it is a tangible perk for the employee. If they are going have to pony up for an online game subscription, there are plenty of alternatives the employees can migrate to...
Too often the review algorithm aggregates reviews of several different products into one set. More than a few reviews that are detailed and sound honest are are for a similar product, or a product from the same vendor, but they are not a review of the product you are considering buying. This worse than useless.
I tried that with Plex's DVR feature and an OTA antenna to record classics. The quality is is good but I noticed that many movies where chopped up, missing scenes either to fit into the time slot or cut out by censors. I ended up using Pirate Bay...

And how to you filter out the people that don't belong there, that are likely to fail? You look at their past grades.
Avoiding grades is impossible. If you don't have grades in the university, you'll get graded by your first boss.
When you gave up the right to have guns.
That fine until the desire to have privacy is considered at "crime". The UK is already cracking down on people who say the wrong things online so the illegal activity like mocking the government that coming for you phone could be the "crime" that give license for the police to go after you. No good can come of this.
I see the movies coming out and nothing seems worth my time. For the few that are actually good, by the time I hear about them, a rip is already available on the Internet and I can watch for free at home in a more comfortable environment. FWIW, I put all the money I used to spend on theater tickets into my Plex system and VPN subscription.
You're talking about the press, right?
Because it's clear the MSM is biased, both in what spin they put on the news, or what they flatly refuse to cover.
When you can't trust the press, people will turn to alternative sources.
Really? I got a 2015 Chevy with remote start included. Just has to be in range of the fob. I seldom use it and certainly would not pay extra for it. I only use it to defrost the windows while making breakfast.
If it's a cell network or wifi feature, then I most certainly would not want it.
Many medical research studies are done incorrectly because the statistics are easy to get wrong. Talk to any professionally trained statistician that works in the field. This particular paper, by itself, cannot settle the issue of use ivermectin or not.
