Submission + - Android Scam Apps Developer Fined £50,000 (eurogamer.net)

CAKAS writes: Latvian based developer firm has been fined £50,000 for developing fake versions of Android games like Angry Birds, Assassin's Creed and Cut The Rope. After agreeing to EULA, the scam apps sent three premium rate SMS messages behalf of the users, each costing £5, for the total of £15 (USD$23.56). Google Play (previously known as Android Market) has been plagued with malware and scam apps, and Android phone user John Gladstone told BBC News how he fell victim to the fraud — "I downloaded every app that I could see on the Android market which had good reviews or if I recognised the name".
