Since the app was formally introduced as Microsoft’s main UC platform in April 2015- and following the overwhelming positive reception it received from
businesses all over the world – Microsoft has been working to make the app not only support video, voice and Instant Messaging e.t.c. but to also replace traditional business phone systems. In order to accomplish this, the tech giant would be required to offer remote a.k.a. cloud PBX services in conjunction with Skype for Business. And that’s exactly what they have done.

There are now three ways of using Skype for Business i.e. by accessing the app through Microsoft Office 365 cloud PBX system, by hosting your own private PBX systems and integrating Skype for Business into your organization's phone system or by using a third party's phone system (e.g. an ally's system) to
support the app for your business. The latter is not as popular since most businesses prefer not to give control of their business communications to third parties. For this reason the vast majority of businesses choose to use either the app via Microsoft's cloud or via their own PBX system.

If you're not sure whether to integrate the app into your current phone system or simply replace your entire system and rely on Microsoft's cloud service for your business needs, here are the most prominent pros and cons of each option.

1. Integrating Skype into Your Phone System

Pros

(a) It is cost effective.

By integrating Skype into your existing PBX system you only spend money on the Skype for Business download license and the monthly user payments. You don't need to pay for the Office 365 services since you already have your own data center.

(b) Control.

Businesses using their own PBX systems have greater control over the performance of their systems than those that rely on cloud hosting providers.

(b) 99.99% network uptime is guaranteed. Microsoft's cloud involves a series of computers spread out in different regions of the country. This means if one center is affected by vandalism, data corruption e.t.c the other centers will still be operational ensuring your system remains online throughout.

Cons

(a) Business have lesser control on the performance of their systems.

The extension's name is Chrome Zero and is currently only available on GitHub, and not through the official Chrome Web Store. Researchers created the extension to rewrite and protect JavaScript functions, properties, and objects that are often used by malicious JavaScript code aimed at leaking CPU or memory data.

Experts said that despite the extension's intrusive behavior, tests showed a minimum performance impact of only 1.54% on resource usage, and an indiscernible page loading latency ranging from 0.01064s and 0.08908s —depending on the number of protection policies active at runtime. Furthermore, as a side-effect of the extension's "protective measures," the research team says Chrome Zero would have been able to block 50% of the Chrome zero-days detected in the real world since the release of Chrome 49.

One person who was on the verge of falling into a peaceful slumber described hearing a "very loud and creepy laugh" from his Echo Dot. "There's a good chance I get murdered tonight," he tweeted.
