For starters, I wish I could take credit for Spamassassin. Next, with Gmail using a spam folder rather than rejecting email, a legitimate sender never gets an NDR. They have to wait until you scan your spam folder, if you ever find it. They think you are ignoring them. Also, time and quantity are independent. Ten thousand messages can be sent in a day.

I think you meant CD/DVD drive. I believe DVDs are still a thing. Your anecdote about "your" Windows 10 computer is amusing. I have a lot of computers without any CD /DVD drive. The two year old Dells here have no disc drive at all. How old are the computers you have? My main computer has a Blu-ray drive for reading archives, but I built it with one. I still play Wolfenstein from 2009 and that's on DVD. I think optical discs are very useful. They have served me very well for years. They are stable and don't erase easily. I never leave one in my pocket when I do the wash, and they stack neatly. There is just not enough room on a thumb drive to write a description. I have big ol' tags hanging off my thumb drives which makes it hard to fit them in my pocket. Then the tag is illegible after the wash so I don't know what got ruined!

If you let a person in your home to see what furnishings , alarm system, valuables, points of entry, and blind spots you have at your home, you should expect to be robbed six weeks later. This happens with plumbers, electricians, and handymen. If you ever let a stranger into your home you should be standing next to them at all times. If you don't have an alarm system, get one. There are more criminals than you think. Concerning the story above about the house keeper who cleans Paul Allen's house, she should keep her mouth shut or she may have a family member kidnapped to force her to assist in a burglary.

Comment Self driving cars may hit people (Score 1) 237

How about making self driving cars that don't hit any people at all? If a person to jumps in front of the car and gets hit, then the car was going to fast for that environment. Isn't this how it works with non self driving cars? In most situations I am aware of, if I hit a pedestrian, it was my fault. In the few situations I am not at fault, like jaywalking from behind a completely obstructed vantage point or a small child running under the car from a completely obstructed vantage point, I cannot imagine any vehicle stopping in time due to the nature of friction and rubber, no matter what color they are. What about dark deer? Dark turtles? Dark rocks? Potholes? Dark cardboard boxes with unknown contents? Are all these just run over?
