These actions could easily discredit existing firm reputations if crypto is part of their main brand.
And if their crypto divisions are not part of the main brand, who would want to bother with them?
Obviously, those that control the AI, influence and control the answers it provides. Which means the monied interests given training costs.
So let the race to the bottom continue...
Using it at all is a terrible idea.
Well, even If the first cells were created by some supernatural being, we have several hundred million years of Darwinian evolution after that.
That would make much of monotheist religious texts pure myth, except for possibly the human wars and human history.
There is also a far less expensive way.
A Raspberry Pi running Raspbian Linux DVR with a few $30 ONVIF Wi-Fi PTZ cameras from Amazon. No cloud storage and visible remotely at anytime with continuous loop recording for whatever period I specify with searchable video. It's been working great for 4 years.
Adding UPS power is trivial for individual cameras, Pi and Internet connections.
We don't understand how most things work. And that's just fine. You don't have to understand the exact workings of a computer or a car to be able to use them. Unless it's your job or hobby, it really doesn't matter. You can spend your time and energy elsewhere.
I don't have to have an understanding of the supply chain for apples. I can just go to the store, buy one, and enjoy it. My lack of understanding of the intricacies of it all doesn't impact my ability to enjoy that apple (not understanding every bit may even increase my enjoyment or rather prevent loss of enjoyment from knowing the dirty underside of the apple industry).
Which means you probably paid too much for a possibly poisoned (by pesticide) Apple that may shorten your life.
And the more complex the object or system, the less you are likely able to properly judge the benefits and consequences of your purchase/use of it except through simplified explanations that are at best myths.
Which allows for the livelihood of so many “fake experts.” Who needs to know only a little more than you to take advantage.
They're all a bunch of opportunistic bullshitters getting away with whatever they can to make as much money as they can as fast as they can, regardless of ethics, integrity, & the harm they're doing to societies & democracies.
It's almost as if they're taking their cues from politicians.
Actually, they are acting as a subset of humans has always acted to obtain advantage over others to accumulate personal power, which includes $$$.
That is not just politicians. That is, everyone in the hierarchy who sees advantage and uses it.
Woke is not a religion.
It certainly looks like a religion when they have articles of faith that cannot be questioned by science.
Obvious examples are in the denial of differences between races and sexes, while at the same time preaching diversity. An example might be to ask if men and women have the same intelligence. You could look at the data, and see the differences, one or the other having an edge depending on what type of test is done, e.g. verbal vs numerical. You might observe greater variance in one sex. But the truly woke will state it as a moral certainty, they they *must* be the same, and any difference in outcomes *must* be due to external injustice, never ability or even personal preferences and choices.
It is possible to acknowledge both historic injustices and biological & cultural differences, but the extremists on both sides can insist that only one is "one true reason". That is religion.
So variance of experience, ability, or appearance justifies discrimination, suppression, and harassment? That's a perversion of the definition of “woke” used regularly by those who would ignore historic and current happenings. Those who believe in a zero sum game and that acknowledging reality will cause them to lose an advantage over others.
Good luck on selling that to everyone else in the world!
In Australia we even have political prayers before meetings or events, that are statements of faith.
We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the Traditional Custodians of this land, with deep respect. May the Elders, past and present, be blessed and honoured.
That is not religion. That is an acknowledgment. Though, I might change the word “blessed” to “acknowledged.” “Blessed” is used by the non-religious also.
That is a noble and valid sentiment, but they way it is used at the start of every meeting, a click-through page in front of websites, a preamble on so many official documents
Regions of the US of have similar acknowledgments at the beginning of some public meetings. It really depends on what the community wants.
That's a strong take. I don't agree, but I respect your courage to put yourself in the pedophile adjacent, anti-parent, pro-sexualizing children camp.
I'm more for educating children about the basics and that does not include planting books with graphic descriptions of sexual acts in their classrooms.
You do realize that children since, at least, the beginning of agriculture and up until the industrial revolution witnessed in person graphic sexual acts at a young age simply by living with or raising animals on farms, and then simply looking at their own genitals and realizing they have similar parts.
Children also witnessed lots of other things, some of today's parents would prevent them from knowing.
Woke is not a religion.
The definition is:
"It’s revealed Truth; opponents are sinners, questioning is heresy, and unbelievers must be converted or destroyed."
Sounds like a religion to me...
The proof exists in daily historic records going back to prior to the founding of the United States, and continues to be recorded in the daily transactions in the United States even to today. It is not a narrative, like a religious text. It is actual documents of human trafficking, slavery, discrimination and financial control or disadvantage due to race, sexual orientation and/or gender.
Anyone who denies this has a vested interest in the status quo of continuing ongoing inequity.
Woke is not a religion.
The definition is:
Woke: having or marked by an awareness of systemic injustices and prejudices, especially those involving the treatment of ethnic, racial, or sexual minorities.
And that's a problem for those who deny or would lie about the current and historic prejudices and injustices, and/or who do not want to acknowledge them.
Do Republicans and DeSantis lose in Florida if voters know accurate history? Probably not. But Florida government officials are trying to prevent current and future voters from learning it anyway. So Florida is banning of books, films, audio, containing science, history, and facts.
It was bad enough with the swapping of papers from their files and storing of exams among some Greek chapters across the country. Exams for professors were kept on file and papers were swapped to a campus that had not seen them.
I hope it is really obvious when papers are written by these services. Otherwise, every essay and paper must be written in class from now on. Followed by the elimination of Wi-Fi and cell service in classrooms and collection of phones and laptops.
How else can these required skills be effectively graded?
The core essence of the smart home has always been interoperability between devices, unless you can find:
a) a vendor who does everything,
b) a vendor who meets the requirements of a) and is guaranteed not to go bankrupt,
c) a vendor who meets the requirements of a) and won't fuck your wallet just to replace a broken switch.
There are existing hubs and open source projects that run on Raspberry Pi's that handle all the major protocols: Z-Wave, ZigBee, Bluetooth, MQTT, Wi-Fi, HTTP etc. as well as be remotely controlled through the web (optionally) or through your iOS or Android phone.
If you don't add a smart speaker/screen, you can all the data for yourself. But once you add Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant, yes all your data leaks to Amazon, Apple, and Google.
"Matter" is just more lock-in marketing by its members to obtain ever more of your personal data for themselves.
Hell, Vera was just a copy of OpenWrt with lua driven GUI that you could easily set-up to NOT phone home if you wanted.
The only good news is that matter is largely a new marketing term made up to promote earlier protocols.
And I was already puzzled by gift certificates and why people are stupid enough to buy those things.
I mean, think about it. What do people say when buying these? "Here is 50 bucks. This is legal tender anywhere. Could you rig it for me that I can get a token that is only redeemable in here and only for a limited amount of time?"
Gift certificates are not investments, nor promoted or advertised as such. Crypto on the other hand...
HOLY MACRO!
