L4wNd4rt writes: I found an interesting post on London Calling, a social media blog. That asserts that Amateur (Ham) Radio was actually the first social network long before the Facebook or even the internet ever existed. Being a ham myself I think that's it's both insightful, cool and true!

Submission + - Galileo To Be Europe's Answer To US GPS (eweekeurope.co.uk)

judgecorp writes: "Two Galileo satellites that will signify the start of the European Union’s answer to the American Global Positioning System (GPS) will be launched into orbit on Thursday aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket. It's using Soyuz as it is cheaper than the French Ariane — and the satellite system is supposed to free Europe from dependence on a US-controlled positioning system."

I don't know why everyone seems to hate DST. I love it. It's awesome. I get light until 9pm in summer (Sydney, AU), and this means lots of time for awesome outdoorsy stuff. I wish we had year-round DST. I can't stand winter, when it gets dark at 4:53pm.
