this is a war between scientists and a bunch of postmodernists parading around in lab coats shouting down results they don't like (cultural anthropologists.)

Umm, no. I take it you didn't even read the summary of either paper.

The economists claim that “the high degree of diversity among African populations and the low degree of diversity among Native American populations have been a detrimental force in the development of these regions.” In other words, that only populations with the "right" amount of genetic diversity (i.e. matching Europe) are likely to be successful. The rest of the scientific community points out that they have defined their terms in a way that gives the results that they want, and ignore existing standard means of measuring genetic diversity.

Will someone with a better understanding of genetics please explain how a genetic test is even possible?

My understanding is that identical twins -- arising from the same zygote -- are genetically identical. Not just "pretty much identical" as the article states.

What possible "genetic test" is being proposed that could differentiate between the brothers? Is the town being scammed?

Here in Massachusetts we have drug labs that can prove anything.

The only thing you should need the BIOS flash for is to boot from a RAID. I was assuming if he bricked the controller then it is also the RAID firmware, since otherwise you can boot from a rescue disk and run lsiutil to rewrite the BIOS flash.

The problem with skipping intermediate versions is that the on-disk format can change (more new stuff in metadata, for example). Each firmware rev only knows its own version and how to update from the previous version.

It's not patentable matter.
Why is USPTO asleep at the switch?

This would fall under "Business method" patents. As for recurring deliveries without reordering, maybe my weekly newspaper should print a story on this "new" business method. They've only been doing this since they started.

Business majors graduate with an understanding of what it takes to build a business in today's markets. Architects and engineers graduate with an understanding of what it takes to design and create things in today's world.

No they don't. They come out with basic skills, just like CS majors (or doctors, lawyers, and so on), and need to work with experienced practitioners in order to become proficient. The best graduates are usually the ones who spent some time as an intern and got an idea of what actually goes on in their field.
