I was just pointing out that on ARM it can't be assumed to be the case, so saying

Unless you're on ARM, in which case it won't be, so no, it's not always optional.

An anonymous reader writes: Looks like M$ deal to buy Skype is giving them an opportunity to attack open source. Skype has told Digium that they must stop selling the proprietary driver that allows Asterisk to connect naively to the Skype network and they do not guarantee that the existing customers will be able to use their drivers beyond 2013
