1000g is nothing. I made that and more without even trying on the way from 60-70. And I again made that and more without even trying on the way from 70-80. Throw in some heroic dungeons, a raid or two, some daily quests... You could have 1000g in less than a week.

When I played I could make 1000g in a couple of hours, buying greens, and selling the materials from disenchanting. It's not hard if you have the right professions and a server with a good economy.

It only makes more sense to people who grew up with it that way. To me, Fahrenheit is just confusing.
We can use the same logic as use with Celsius: 20 us nice, 25 is warm and 30 is hot. Having freezing happen at 0 can be particularly convenient. If it's a positive number driving should be good...if it's negative be careful.
I would actually say the Celsius scale is less arbitrarily defined as well. It's based on water, rather then ice, water, and ammonium chloride.

She has films and magazines and tv shows (Dr Phil, Rachel Ray...)
Also, the target audience is upper-middle class women. And when Oprah talks, these women listen. Just try and get a book out of the library once it's in Oprah's bookclub.

Submission + - 1 in 8 Men Would Dump Their Girlfriend For an iPod

nieske writes: According to a survey conducted in the UK, 13% of British men would trade in their girlfriends for an iPod, widescreen TV, home cinema system or fridge freezer, while only 6% of women would consider doing so. Unsurprisingly, the younger audience is more eager to dump their partner for gadgets "(although I bet a few pensioners would swap their other half for a state-of-the-art stairlift)".

The First HD DVD Movie Hits BitTorrent 537

Ars Technica reports that the first HD DVD movie has made its way onto BitTorrent, showing that current DRM efforts to prevent illegal sharing of copyrighted content are still futile and fighting an uphill battle. From the article: "The pirates of the world have fired another salvo in their ongoing war with copy protection schemes with the first release of the first full-resolution rip of an HD DVD movie on BitTorrent. The movie, Serenity, was made available as a .EVO file and is playable on most DVD playback software packages such as PowerDVD. The file was encoded in MPEG-4 VC-1 and the resulting file size was a hefty 19.6 GB."

Submission + - Upgrade from Windows XP to Vista

ThinSkin writes: "Joel Durham Jr. over at ExtremeTech has come up with several convincing reasons why users who plan on adopting Windows Vista, at one time or another, should choose the path of upgrade, rather than a clean installation of the new OS. In this how-to of upgrading from Windows XP to Vista, Joel discusses important topics that are crucial during the installation process, such as if your current OS is in fact upgradeable, what you need to do to prepare for that big switch, and how, step-by-step, you install Vista."

Ghostbusters Game Confirmed, On Hold 74

IGN confirms a delicious rumour that's been circulating since this past weekend. Yes, Virginia, there is a next-gen Ghostbusters game currently in the works. Footage from the work in progress, made up by developer Zootfly, has been circulating with much debate over its authenticity. Unfortunately, right now it doesn't look like we'll be seeing this title any time soon. From the article: "We are very glad to see the overwhelming response to the Ghostbusters prototype movies. What you've seen is indeed in-game footage of early prototypes on the Xbox 360, running on ZootFly's proprietary engine. Due to licensing issues, further development of the Ghostbusters game hit a bump on the road. But everybody here at ZootFly is working actively on resolving the challenges with the owners of the Ghostbusters IP."
