Oh, come on over, having no faith in humanity isn't that bad. Life's great when you are at peace with the knowledge that at least global warming will obliterate mankind now that we've managed to muck up nuclear annihilation by disarming.

To everyone who tagged this "domyjobforme", I hope every single one of you gets the same response the next time you ask for help doing you job. At least this guy had the sense to say, "Hey, there's a community of people that contains a multitude of experts in many fields, I bet someone might have some good suggestions." And guess what else? Maybe some readers will find the suggestions helpful too. Ask Slashdot is for questions that the general community might find interesting and helpful, not just one guy. It's not just about the submitter, and it's certainly not about your need to be snide to those who recognize their shortcomings and try to expand their base of knowledge.

Wow. I'll reboot my 810 every few months and that's it. It's rock solid for me. The 800 was originally released at 330mhz or so, and OS2008 bumped it up to 400 like the 810 has, so maybe the 800 is flakier at the higher speed? The 810 is a fantastic machine to me.

I have an N810 and LOVE IT. I installed Evince which lets me rotate PDFs left or right so I have a full page visible on the 800x480 screen, and it's wonderful to read a book on. The fact that I have a full Gecko based browser and full xterminal everywhere is just icing on the cake.

I'm glad someone else remembers the quality and trust the Norton name used to engender. Norton Utils 4.5 was a breakthrough in software tools back in the day. Symantec just slapped that name on lots of other crap and drove the brand into the ground.

Most people don't want to spend $500 or more for a phone. And the plans were outrageously priced. You could have had a nice sized LCD display in 2003 too, but it was quite expensive. You could have had a 20megabit fiber connection to the internet in 2003, it was very expensive.

You're confusing existence with commonality. Most people had none of those things three years ago, now you can get any of them for $100 or less.

Except the N810 is smaller than the N800, has 2GB of storage built in, and the kb slides out like many cell phones for text message addicts. It's an incredible package.

Being able to access the web is a far cry from being able to USE it. I can access the net via a text only terminal and a 1200 baud modem, but I sure as hell won't get much done.The web "browsers" on phones SUCKED HARD. For years millions of us were waiting for a day when phone makers stopped trying to whittle the web down to phone screen size and instead scaled up the screen and juiced up the browser's power. I'm not an Apple fanboy, the last Apple product I had was an ancient black and white Mac from the dawn of time, and I got it free, played with it. However, one thing Apple did right, if not perfect, was the Safari browser on the iPhone. There is nothing close to the usability and agility of Safari on the iPhone. Fennec has potential, but it's slower than molasses in January right now.

We've seen "get the Internet on your cell phone" for years. People are surprised because now it's actually usable.

Because I can live without $50 steaks and $100,000 cars. I for one would be dead without a simple medication. I had a medical emergency last year that is relatively simple to perform by a surgeon, took all of 45 minutes under the knife, but I'd have DIED without it. That's why it should be different.
