Its high time Slashdot should drop Bill Gates pic for MS activity and put up Steve Ballmer's since the former no longer has any role on such decisions.

As far as dropping Silverlight support, I saw it coming sooner or later from a company with such a track record on many of their products including hardware. Microsoft's stability is highly unstable.
I don't wanna be predicting this but I'm afraid WP7 would be the next victim. And such could be the case with the HTML5 based apps on windows 8.
