One answer, we also want all the discussion, clarification, confirmation, others problems with implementing solution, alternative answers, corrections and warnings that the answer has major problems. Without that the solution is often useless, and may be outright dangerous to blindly follow.

Would you bother reading slashdot if it only showed the first comment to get to score of 5?

Already installed and blocked, along with some sites which give me paywalled or embedded (no local save) datasheets for electronic components I search for daily. Gone, I want the manufacturers page, not ripped, embedded and ad surrounded low res reproductions of the original freely available pdf.

Hopefully they dont pay too much attention to reports because it will be prone to abuse, just human filter the really obvious junk.

What I have wanted for a long time is the ability to block certain sites which come up in top results constantly but I dont want them.
These are mostly paywall sites, but also sites which consistently contain low quality material but manage to score high in google for some reason.

So long as I can remove those particular sites from my own searches completely Im happy, thats the feature I want and have been looking for.

Isn't the whole idea with Google making it open source that manufacturers will contribute their own improvements to the main release? Or contribute cash for Google to allocate more programmers onto the features they would like? Instead they seem to be whining that Google isn't working on the free product they benefit from fast enough, then going off in their own direction creating proprietary code for themself which just messes up the whole open source idea.

A corporation's only drive, and reason for existing, is to increase its profits. Any services, offers, or goods that a corporation provides to you, are only provided if it increases the profits of that corporation, never because the corporation wants to actually help you out.

Actually corporations are run by a small group of people, generally rich powerful people. They make the corporation do things which suit their personal agenda all the time, including things which are in the best interest of themselves not the corporation or its shareholders. Same deal with politicians, you think everything they steer the government towards is in the countries best interest not their own agenda? The humans in charge of the corporation make human decisions, including helping their buddies and hurting their enemies. A corporation isnt some autonomous machine driven purely by profit logic like you make out.

We get this all the time at my work. Yeah they just need engineers and programmers who will work for commissions/share options in their idea, plus fund the $50k in UL, CE and other safety certifications, plus pay for prototypes, plus pay for injection moulding tooling, plus turn their single page "idea" into an actual specification. 5 minutes on Google find that most "ideas" already exist, or defy the laws of physics.
