Yes, that was my point. Note "really smart people". Minor variations to either side of the norm might produce measurable statistics. Once you get to the extremes, you can no longer make such generalizations.

So, if he wants to establish some equivalence between higher IQ scores and higher "liberalness" he fails because people that score higher than the stated 103 will not classify themselves in such a simple minded manner. This is probably why he did not include any stats about people that score 120, 130, or even more. Unfortunately for him, they don't fit his vision.

I see you dropped the argument about insurance. That's progress.

As far as not understanding what a shelter is because I'm a modern pansy goes, I think you have the roles reversed. I do understand what the poll question is about. That's why I did not include the costs of my hunting lodge in my response. The hunting lodge has no plumbing, no electricity yet it does provide ... wait for it ... shelter. However it is almost entirely used for entertainment so it was not relevant. Catch that, "relevant".

Not being able to understand what is relevant to the context and what is not is what makes you confused.

You've never had a water pipe freeze during a power outage. That certainly can destroy your shelter. I repeat, electricity and water are vital.

You're funny: "the mortgage company puts you in foreclosure for not having it".

What happens then? You do not have shelter. You did not pay for insurance and now somehow do not have shelter. Same result as if you had never bought said shelter. Same result as if you had never bought the wood, shingles, nails, etc. that would form your shelter. Other than that, try to finance a house without insurance. You will discover that it is not possible. Same result as if you did not have enough money to purchase said shelter in the first place. Therefore, I repeat myself, insurance is vital to my shelter.

I'm sure you'd be further confused if we brought up the concept of "Maintenance".

An even bigger stretch would be grappling with the concept of "cost of living".

Comment You Have a Strange Concept (Score 1) 582

Without insurance, I would not have shelter. Therefore it is a vital component of said shelter. Just as taxes are.

Utilities might be a gray area. Do I *need* fiber-TV/internet as a component of my shelter? Somewhat, but not all of the cost can be considered so.

Do I *need* electricity, water, and gas? Absolutely, without them the *utility* of my shelter would be greatly reduced and in the proper combination, say water-yes, electricity-no, weather-cold, the lack of one utility could lead to the destruction of my shelter.

There's no reason to use M$/WinXXX on a convergent mobile device.

There's no installed base of .doc oriented apps.

There's no overwhelming majority of users to provide any sort of peer pressure.

There's no library of existing apps/games/utils with which the population of potential users is already familiar.

None of the 'reasons' people use M$ products on PCs apply to the new field of devices.
