Seriously! I just installed Ubuntu on my old Mac Mini figuring I'd be able to fire up TF2 now, but after reading about the bots problem I'm hesitant to dive in. I'll probably still do it once I have a little time, but Valve really did their best to kill this great game for me by not making a 64-bit version on Mac.

Thanks for the link. I've been on OTA for a number of years now, but I have been looking to find out what to replace my TiVo with once it inevitably goes away. I had heard of the HDHomeRun before but hadn't really understood what's so good about it. I think that'll be the way to go for the future.

The Reason article does the same thing everyone else is doing, waffling on if anything criminal actually happened. It generates more clicks to attack the "media", than to call this guy what he is, a god damned fraud.

I wouldn't say the Reason article waffles on it. They're a news outlet. They can't establish SBF's criminal guilt until he actually goes to court and is found guilty. However, Soave did write this:

He defrauded people out of millions of dollars!

That seems decisive to me.

The sneaky best thing about the Switch is how you can play for a little bit, then put the machine to sleep while you do whatever adult-related tasks are required, then come back to things hours later and instantly resume the game. I am probably about your age and had written off video games once I had a kid and actual responsibilities. The Switch fits in with my life perfectly.

I'm a guy who likes running their own software, writing their own software, making changes, etc. on my computer. I moved off of Windows back in the XP days because it became clear that I was going to lose more and more control over my OS. (Those forced Windows Updates drove me over the edge...)

However, I like having a phone that stays phone-like and is locked down. I'd like to be able to play FLAC files on my iPhone, but I can live without that. I can live with just using Safari as a browser. I consider my phone to be tertiary to my computing lifestyle, so if I want to do specific things on my phone, I just don't do it. It's worth it to me to not worry about that.

I hope this makes sense- honestly, until I read the summary, I hadn't thought much about how I care A LOT about what I can do with my computer and very little about what I can do on my phone!

Link me your "Bangladeshi study" if you can.

I'll do it because I was curious about this as well. Here's the most even-handed, non-opinion-laden source I could find, from Stanford. They say that surgical mask use showed an 11% reduction in cases compared to the control, whereas cloth mask use was statistically insignificant compared to the control group.

Not a good analogy. Had you said "Adidas" (or some such) instead of "shoes", it might have worked. It would also have been somewhat interesting.

That reminds me of when people were calling New Balance shoes the official shoe of white supremacists. As a middle-aged white guy who wears New Balance sneakers every day, this had me laughing nervously for a while. Good smear on New Balance though! I wonder if it affected their sales at all.
