It's not close to the same. Typescript works fine on all OSs, it's just a language and the fact it was created by Microsoft matters nota jot. J++ was a deliberate attempt to destroy the write once-run anywhere ethos of java (not that that every worked). Typescript is the best thing to happen to javascript in the last 10 years. I used scala.js for quite a while but its too hard to find developers, and typescript gives 80% of the benefit for 20% of the pain.

TNG wasn't 10 out of 10 a lot of the time (the pilot definitely wasn't that great). You can demand high quality content, but you're going to miss out on a lot of good shows because you refuse to watch anything that isn't perfect.

My wife and I enjoy Simpsons enough that we are happy to pay for it while we work through 30 seasons (or however many seasons we get through until we go "this has lost its charm"). I believe I grew out of the Simpsons around season 12 so it will be interesting to see how far I get.
