Exactly right. A scientist can talk about "specific impulse" until he's blue in the face but the person interested in spaceflight just wants to know how fast the damned thing goes.

Well, it makes sense that a government entity wants more money but the logic of a sales tax escapes me. If I'm buying something, the person who is taking my money is making income and therefore paying taxes on it. So a sales tax is a tax paid by the buyer for the privilege of being allowed to buy something? Makes no sense.

Didn't Thor Heyerdahl show that ancient people could have crossed the ocean with their level of technology? I think it's entirely possible that the Egyptians could have made the trip and influenced the technology of the New World.

It would be interesting if life in the Universe was similar enough because planets that bear life are "seeded" in such a way. Frightening, too. That means it's possible that humans might be susceptible to microbes found on other planets.
