The systematic creation of an overarching "security" apparatus was every only for one purpose and that was to be used as a weapon in the defense of corporations.
I can see engineers and scientists loving the challenge of this project and others to come. The human spirit is always in need of a challenge to bring out the best in everyone. I think this is a terrificly exciting thing they're doing.
Exactly right. A scientist can talk about "specific impulse" until he's blue in the face but the person interested in spaceflight just wants to know how fast the damned thing goes.
What the U.S. government probably has is 60+ years worth of wasting taxpayer dollars on black projects that went nowhere. I've come to believe that flying saucers were a cover story and false hysteria created by the government as a way to both deflect the truth and create a system where observers could be dismissed as kooks.
Yes, indeed. I saw it happen to my mother in the year before she passed. She was an M.D. in life and it was tragic to witness her decline. I certainly hope that scientists will be aggressive in coming up with treatments if such treatments are possible.
Well, it makes sense that a government entity wants more money but the logic of a sales tax escapes me. If I'm buying something, the person who is taking my money is making income and therefore paying taxes on it. So a sales tax is a tax paid by the buyer for the privilege of being allowed to buy something? Makes no sense.
Every day in the business world, people are "reassigned" because they are not on-board with the boss. I've seen more than a few upper level managers get "promoted" because they voiced displeasure about the direction the company was taking. This is the way the world works.
Didn't Thor Heyerdahl show that ancient people could have crossed the ocean with their level of technology? I think it's entirely possible that the Egyptians could have made the trip and influenced the technology of the New World.
It would be interesting if life in the Universe was similar enough because planets that bear life are "seeded" in such a way. Frightening, too. That means it's possible that humans might be susceptible to microbes found on other planets.
