Yes, people are dumb...but they are the same people driving 1 ton devices at 150 km/h and, most of them survive...so not SO dumb. I think the goal of the Right to Repair has something more important as foundation than the repair job and risk by it. Environmental and economics are hand by hand, and instead of discarding / recycling a product, if you have good understanding of what's going on, maybe some $ for a part and labor will put the device on service again. One friend was throwing away his out of warranty 40" Samsung TV because lack of backlight. One official service quoted the repair at $350. It took me $7 and 1 hr to fix it. That was 4 yr ago. And it still works as new. Not every consumer can afford to throw money in the garbage when a device fails.
