I thought about this for myself only,

This is what I would buy,
1) I need to tell at a glance time without hitting any buttons. Eg, a watch....
2) It would need it to be curved to fit the dimensions of my wirst
3) It should decide if I should buy or sell a stock.
That is all.

Why not just put the worlds plastic in a volcano. BAM just solved the worlds plastic problem.

We could pitch other stuff as-well in volcanoes like cars, electronics & other stuff I'm sure. I don't think anyone will complain about a polluted volcano.

I asked everyone in the office about this & they agree with me. I'm right.

If your company actually has a large amount of web traffic. Or a large backend software system that holds business critical information. The to the cloud chant!, is really stupid.

Its almost never cheaper in my experience to move into the "cloud". Sure, hosting your static files & images on a CDN (Eg cloud) service that makes sense.

Just buy a managed servers from a good hosting company, they will do all the "work" just like in the cloud & you will reduce you bill easily 50% then using cloud services.

Don't look for differences between co-workers. Look for shared interests between you.

I think you'll find, alot of 20-30yr olds wish they had the stability you have with your family.

You are obviously very out of touch with the WHO & WHY of why people continue to use XP.

1) Not everyone can AFFORD to update their computer, buy a new computer or buy a new copy of windows. Let alone get a Mac...
2) Most of the world is not tech savvy. The idea that you would get them to install Linux is really not practical. People are creatures of habit & that will never change. Look at how many people freaked out when W8 removed the start button.
3) A large % of users are in 2nd & 3rd world countries. The fact they even HAVE a computer & electricity to power it is a BIG deal. You're being very dismissive of how the majority of the world lives. You should travel more.

XP is like an old car... sure it eats 5x the amount of gas, but it gets you from point a to b.

I remember Kevin Rose justifying changing the design for Digg.com on his "Random" TV show / video blog before they went live... "We don't want Digg to be like Slashdot who never changes". Shortly after the changes Digg traffic tanked from Alexa 150 to 1000+. They lost millions upon millions of dollars.

My point is this, the design doesn't make the site the content does (eg Craigslist).

Instead of spending another 6+ months on this new site, how about you spend the time to actually find and create compelling stories that people want to read instead?

You're content really is bad & you know you've been skating by for far to long. Really, the only saving grace of the entire site is the comment section (you know your community...)

You know, spend time on the news site that reports on & investigates on.... news.

I think your prob right about it physically being better for people long term walking around vs standing. But I did this job for 3 months as a temp about 10 years ago for an auto parts store.

For me, It's wasn't the walking, it was lifting things on high shelves at weird angles that hurt the most. You're usually on a stair cart as-well to get the things at the high shelves. So you're going up and down these stairs with heavy things and I saw a lot of people get hurt.

Anyways I get what'cha mean you're prob right.

This is where everyone wins with technology. Companies get an increase in volume & works are walking less so it's easier on them.

Does it ever work out well for the whistle blower? Document your concerns then move on... it's better then being unemployed.

They cost more upfront & most people don't think past the now.

For web based services imo, more people choose "month-to-month" versus a yearly package. Even though yearly is much cheaper & the retention is over 12 months.

1) It doesn't matter if it has the "range of a regular gasoline car". Because you would have to drive like 500 miles to find a hydrogen refilling station!

2) Hydrogen is expensive... at least as much as gasoline in most of the US.
