I fail to see the point of your argument. I pointed out that ddos attacks cause business's lose money/profit. Servers are a business tool, just like a fax and a phone. You lose the ability to use it, you lose the ability to conduct business.

My biggest problem is not spam. But people that get infected with key loggers or other data gathering tools which give up everything about them. Loss of income, loss of privacy.

Apple can say they resolved the issue and now it is solely on the application itself for overroding the setting. This also would not make the user constantly verify they want to do something, UNLESS the application itself requested that type of input.
