Comment They should know (Score 1) 346

not to go and complain about competitors, heres why.
First of all it's google.
Second, it's good to have a diverse set of search engines and a diverse set of algorithms. The more there are out there, they higher chance any site has of ranking up or down.
Third, if they want to make search their own way, why not post about it like a normal company? No, they have to go all drama queen and start crying about google, the most popular and innovative search technology we've seen yet.

This just reminds me of how useless it is for people to be losing their data all the time. The future is virtual data. I bookmark everything I install and every site I'll ever return to. And I back those bookmarks up, and put them on another drive. Therefore, when planned obselence kicks in, I'll have lost a lot less. In terms of contacts, keep a text file (it has saved my ass many a time.) In terms of music, grooveshark all your favorite artists, at least.

Why is it still hard to 'get legal rights' to shut down botnets. I know it's to avoid complete power in the hands of microsoft, but any compelling evidence suggesting that a domain is a botnet should see to it's destruction. It should me much easier to combat these cyber villains, as it is only getting much worse.

And much more?

For the price it would be nice if it was slightly more powerful, and oh I don't know, unrestricted content and multitasking? I honestly don't know why they haven't enabled those (I know their reasons but they are stupid and nonsensical)

You are purely thinking off of the emotion known as nostalgia. Maybe it was simpler, but it was worse, less efficient, less powerful, and much much much less functional.

I agree. Less intelligent content will not be missed.

However, what's stopping everyone from just saving all of their content on their computers before their site dies? Sure, I guess some sites have a lot of content, but massive hard drives are available. Am I missing something?

I'm always the one among my friends talking about nanotechnology and it's implications. I was even caught preaching while drunk about nanobots. The thing is, most people don't even believe that some things are possible through technology, or at least not in their lifetime at all. If they can get past this belief, however, I've noticed that they don't take that much interest and seem to shut down all potential thoughts they could've formulated about future technology.

I'm 19 and I still manage to play games. I guess this is due to lack of a girlfriend or kids, but I still have a lot on the to-do list. Errands, groceries and chores can be done quickly with optimal efficiency. However, a full course load at university, with the added responsibilities of reading/commenting Slashdot, and browsing the web for over an hour a day, (I have a lot of bookmarks) and watch my daily share of shows (daily show for example).I also am in the process of creating a website to generate revenue and trying to write content for a blog. I've also taken up working out once in a while and joined the MMA club. Not to mention my devotion to my bong and guitar. God, summer will be a relief- it will allow me to get started coding this game idea I've got.

But let me tell you, I still fit in some decent hours to play cod (I've got 20k kills since release), and I plan on buying a multitude of games that are finally making their way out. Would you believe that I'm actually a really lazy person and sleep for 10+ hours usually? Don't say I don't have a life either, because I got drunk twice last weekend.

I remember when I first started recording guitar when I was younger. Now all of the old records just serve to showcase how bad I was, while it still serves for some good comparison, making my new recordings look better.
