Submission + - Australia's 2 largest ISP's start censorship (news.com.au)

unreadepitaph writes: "Looks like after Stephen Conroy's web filter went down in flames he went quietly behind the backs of Australians and struck a deal with Telstra and Optus to start filtering an undisclosed blacklist of sites from organisation within and external to Australia."

Wikileaks was there to "stick it" to the "man", where as these corporations are looking for ways to maximise profit.

It's pretty disgusting/misleading to promise anonymity when clearly they're not going to think twice about selling you out if they get a gentle nudge.

Shouldn't journalists with integrity have the inside scoop? The ones that will go to jail instead of giving up their source?

It's called a cash advance.
Since they now have pin numbers on Credit Cards you can withdraw from ATM's using it.
The interest rate on cash advances are generally the same or 1% higher than the cards (If you have a base rate of like 11% or a little higher they will be about 19-20%) interest rate except they apply straight away.
So you're not paying that much interest on top of them anyway.

If you read/compare the guidelines they're completely different.

No restriction on themes
Things that are completely permitted: Language, Drug Use, Nudity
Sex can now be simulated.

What I am interested in is that RC doesn't seem to have changed and would allow the classification board to block content on the same merits they used to.

Comment Australia's just been suffering for a long time (Score 1) 303

Aussie telcos raped(still rape) their customers with DATA prices. Only recently have we started to get unlimited caps for mobile, but even then as soon as you roam you get charged through the teeth. It's sad that the US companies decided to go down this path, but they're gonna start posting some record profits so maybe it's a good time to invest.
