Journal Journal: Nothing 1

This whole journal thing is new to me. I've never been inclined to write anything before. Not that I never give life any thought, though. I think about almost every action that I take before I take it. Maybe its worth writing down what I think, so that I can understand the frame of mind that led to many of my stupid decisions when I analyze them later.

Maybe this is all blather. I'm not even sure.

Anyway, a little background on me. I'm a 27 year old single guy who lives with his parents. Pathetic, huh? I actually find it rather enjoyable. I work for a small company in Montgomery County, Maryland, as a senior Solaris engineer. I have a sister in college who I'm very close to. I love cars (I can find something good and something bad about almost any model) and I'm a terrible financial planner. I'm a baseball and a hockey fan, but not a basketball fan. I also tend to bring my work home with me and make it my hobby. I'm also terribly addicted to sports car racing and F1, which tends to add to my wasting of money.

I want to whine about last weekend.

I found out on Saturday (last) that my old company (AT&T) has the collective IQ of a doorknob. In addition to everything else that they screwed up while I worked there, they also failed to setup my state taxes properly with Maryland, causing me to get penalized big time, and to have to spend all the money that I had saved for vacation on a state tax bill.

Aargh.

Then, I got a bad cold Saturday afternoon (while painting, I might add) and had to sleep all day Sunday. Then I got a call from yet another person who wants me to do them a favor.

What a weekend.

This weekend has been a bit better. I'm in the process of moving into a different room in my house, and I got most of the crap cleaned out of the new room. Its now got enough space so that I can remove the existing carpet and install the new one that I bought.

Today was the most beautiful day of the year so far. It was 80F, and lightly breezy. Perfect weather, IMHO.

So, what have I done with the evening? Sat in my room, and worked on an ancient DEC Alpha with a balky 2.5" SCSI HD. Why do I waste my time on this crap? I have no clue.
