j79 writes "John Dvorak has written an opinion piece on why he believes Microsoft is dead in the water. He discusses Vista, Office 2007, MSN and MSN search, the Xbox 360, Pad-based computing, .Net, and Microsoft's obsession with Google. "

Oh, and thanks to all you folks who keep posting journals and keep me entertained with your sillyness and geekyness. I 'priciate it.

Journal Journal: girlscout father/daughter dance, last weekend

I'm a tad behind on posting here. So I'll give you guys a quick update on the fun I had last weekend. My girlfriend Joni is a troup leader for her niece's girlscout troup, so I got to help set up the Hawaiian luau. Kroger, Mama Fo's, and Moe's donated tons of food and drinks. About 100 couples (father and daughter) attended from 15 or so girlscout troops.

Journal Journal: Sveasoft illegally uses OpenWRT 2

Ok I admit it, I have been lazy recently. Not much had happened in the WRT scene in a while.
OpenWRT now has a great Web-Interface, DD-WRT got better on a daily basis while Sveasofts lost all its developers except James and the quality of their firmware releases declined even more.

Tomorrow night will be my first Dropkick Murphys concert. I'm thinking of wearing the t-shirt of the band that I'm going to see ;-)

Journal Journal: aaaRRRRGG! (frustration) 2

I'm starting to really regret taking two online classes in one quarter. Even more than that I'm regretting taking 11 hours of classes as a "part time" student. I'm so frustrated and burnt out right now. Computer classes or not, this is just horrible.

Journal Journal: Less Than Jake concert last night 1

Less Than Jake rocked the house in Atlanta last night. The confetti explosions and toilet paper blowers (what? they don't have snow in Gainsville where LTJ is from?) were awesome as usual. This was my third time seeing them and I think I'll see them again :-)

Journal Journal: New sig

I got a new quote to put in my sig. This is just to give official recognition to the original poster, LordMyren.

You want a philosophical underpinning? the purpose is not to overthrow Goliath. we dont care about the economics; we just want to be able to hack great stuff.

Journal Journal: re: A/S/L?

I can't participate in Em Emalb's journal because I spent all 5 of my moderation points on the conversation :-)

Which is well enough. I don't need you guys hitting on me anyway ;-)

Journal Journal: Back to school - Winter Quarter 2006

I'm scheduled to take two online classes this quarter. Operating Systems Concepts (CIS 103) and Program Design and Development (CIS 105). Both should be easy classes given that I've been programming for over 10 years and I've been interested in operating system development for the last 6 years.

40 hour workweeks, 11 hours of class, numerous hobbies, and a girlfriend. I guess I'm also going to learn how to juggle. This will be one heck of a quarter.

Journal Journal: Childs Play Charity 1

I know some of you don't read the front page. But there is a link to the Childs Play Charity on the front page and I think everyone needs to at least be aware of such a charity. It was started two years ago by the guys at Penny Arcade (an online comic strip that often focuses on computer gaming). In the last two years they have helped promote gamers to donate tons upon tons of money to childrens hosp

Journal Journal: I give up on communicating 3

Apparently I have bad luck when it comes to communicating with people. I often get stuck trying to speak with people that just plain don't care about anything I have to say. I hit on girls that won't give me the time of day. I don't know what words to use so I often use the wrong ones. My tone doesn't reflect what I'm trying to get across. And in general I have horrible luck finding willing partipants to communicate with. Only my long time friends put up with my babbling and nonsensical
