The 68000 had disadvantages compared to the 8088.

It did not support the existing inexpensive 8-bit peripherals, it had no legacy compatibility with CP/M applications, and there was no 8-bit version which allows for narrower memory and half as much bus logic to save costs.

Later disadvantages of the 68000 include double indirect addressing and inability to restart from a fault because of lost state.

Why would the automation of government workers put an end to democracy? An AI-controlled government is perfectly capable of putting issues to vote, tallying the votes as humans cast them, etc.

Because AI decisions will be opaque leading to loss of due process. The government and corporations already take advantage of this deliberately and it has ruined lives. Read up on the British Post Office scandal for an example:

I lost interest in Bernie Sanders after it was revealed that the DNC directed his donations to supporting Hillary, and Sanders went along with it. In retrospect this explains his earlier campaigns and he had to know about it, so my conclusion is that his plan all along was to draw in voters who would support his policies, and have them vote for someone else. He never intended to win the Democratic primary election. It was just another way to get more votes for whoever the DNC picked.

But none of them come cheap. Remember when a computer cost the equivalent of $10k in today's dollars and could barely run a spreadsheet? All the (rich) early adopters who bought those through the 70s, 80s, and 90s paid for the factories that churn out your $150 smartphone.

Computers benefited from increased integration from Dennard Scaling and Moore's Law which doubled the number of transistors for the same cost and energy every 18 months. There is no equivalent for batteries.

Seems to me this is likely for the Y also.

One theory of why the Y is so short: The shorter it is, the less likely a selection-restriction could develop on it. On other chromosomes this is bad but not insurmountable with time. On the Y (if a countermeassure doesn't evolve lightning-quick) all the first mutant's children are male, all their children are male, and so on until there's an all-male generation, after which the species disappears into the dustbin of extinction.

The way I remember it is since only half of children have the Y chromosome, there is selection pressure from the genes on the X chromosome to remove it or make it non-functional producing more XX children. Genes on the Y chromosome have their functions taken up by genes on other chromosomes to make the attack surface of the Y chromosome smaller.

Just shadow ban the offending material from within their borders. Just for safe measure, I would completely ban everything from a government IP address also; government employees should be working and not using social media.
